I don't usually think of it as a shot if sipped, but I'm a whiskey drinker so if I'm sipping on a nice whiskey it won't be in a shot glass. Even without ice, in a double old fashioned glass it's merely 'neat.' But I wouldn't begrudge using the phrase "sipping on a shot of vodka" to describe the way your neighbor enjoyed her drink. The shot glass full of vodka is "a shot" she just chose not to "shoot" it.

@Reindermoss, you can get a nice leather one at CB2. (Disclaimer: currently work there) It's not cheap but it's very nicely done. Not sure about where to get canvas ones.

I grew up in Virginia, so always ate fresh caught Chesapeake Bay shrimp from a 'waterman' we knew. I'm definitely spoiled. Out in California now so this is good info! Had a great shrimp dish recently when my boyfriend surprised me by buying shrimp.

I enjoy it, but it is very far from my personal taste so I wouldn't do it to my home. But I have certain friends that I think it fits nicely with, or would like it in a small hotel out in the coutryside.

Living in VA I see blue mason jars all the time. I have a small collection that I love but I find it absurd how widely the price ranges. Mine I bought for $2-3 a pop. I see them in the under $5 range every so often, but more often it's $6-12 or even more!

I once had a toilet in my bedroom, in a closet. The sink was in my bedroom. It was quite convenient, and I was very little so didn't mind the aesthetics of it. Overall, I like combining the spaces.

Knifemouth, do you think this option would be more likely to have bedbugs? I doubt that, having had a recent (and false!) bedbug scare and having done a lot of reading. The white of this hotel in particular would help finding them, and there is no reason a pod would have more bedbugs than a hotel room. Separating your belongings from your pod could actually be helpful.

Sounds delicious but since cucumbers are mostly water, you'll probably want to pair this meal with some protein or you'll be hungry again soon. I would definitely make it for a summer potluck though as a side.

The second and fourth almost look like they could be dorms, but wow that's a lot of space to have! And singles, I was in a triple- there was about 8 sq feet of floor space!

I definitely understand that some prefer white dishes and some prefer those with a design. But if someone has white dishes and wants a design, why should they go buy designed ones? Even if they are giving away the old ones, if they like doing a craft project why not? It allows them to end up with a set of dishes totally unique and suited to the owner.

To find non-traditional caterers who may be more willing to adapt, there are a couple options.

If you are looking for a particular style of food, say you're from Louisiana and really want Cajun food, contact restaurants with that style and see if they can adapt and use some of your recipes/ some of theirs.

Try Craigslist under services. Post what you are looking for, look for personal chefs, etc.

You may have to contact lots of people but hopefully you can find what you are looking for!
