I don't like shower curtains at all because they easily stick to my body when taking a shower and it's just awkward. Unfortunately, due to piping in the wall we couldn't install the shower screen we used in our previous apartment.

Here's a picture of what we used to have (that's not our bathroom, but the screen is the same): http://wp1115212.wp151.webpack.hosteurope.de/fewosaathoff/pics/badewanne.jpg

It's not "spill proof", but I also didn't flood the entire floor. ;)

I guess that next time we move, I'll be looking for such a screen that covers about 2/3 or 3/4 of the bathtub, but it does need to be foldable, else it's rather impractical.

Sure, the chairs look interesting, but they don't appear comfortable enough to be used as regular desk chairs. Personally, I prefer something with a bit of upholstery and wheels.

I quite like this idea - not for a dorm room but for a normal living situation in a maybe oddly shaped flat or to divide a room two siblings have to share as plumeria pointed out.

I wish I would've had that when having to share a room with my sister. It may've helped cut down on the arguments going on.

When my husband and I moved in together seven years ago, we used some of the furniture I had already, among them my old desk I got when I was a teenager. It's our only desk and with a size of 1.60*0.80 m, enough for our two desktop computers, comfortable chairs and some knick knack. We don't work at home, but we spend a lot of time in front of our computers and even after seven years, it's never been a problem: http://www.rhiana.info/office/homeoffice01.jpg

My husband and I are currently sleeping in a bed that is placed litterally in the middle of the bedroom. It's a space that's a bit less than 15 sqm (150 sqft) and a previous renter has installed a huge built-in wardrobe that covers an entire wall. We've got a queensize bed without headboard but with a wooden frame that adds about 15cm on each side of the bed to its length and width. The original solution was put it up against the wall as the outlets were there for nightlamps for each side of the bed, but that made it awkward to pass between bed and wardrobe to get to the window not to mention that it was impossible to fully open some of the wardrobe's doors.

After a couple of weeks, we turned the bed by 90 degrees, placed it into the middle of the room with the head towards the window. That way, we both can leave the bed without having to climb over the other. Instead of two nightstands, we've got a small, round table that offers enough space for a lamp, an alarm clock, two books and glasses that's placed between the bed and the window where we both can easily reach it.

I thought initially as well that sleeping like that in the middle of the room would be strange, but that concern was entirely unwarranted. Plus, that way I get to be closer to the window - more fresh air for me. :)
