Also, aside from the well-commented sexism of this list, did anyone else notice that the 'nail bottle opener' is basically just a $22 bent nail in a piece of wood? What a great gift! A Gift Guide for the Modern Gentleman |

This applies more to if you're looking for a room/shared apt - but it helps to post on "housing wanted" with a good description of yourself and what you're looking for. Nice! I have a very similar coffee table/bench that I made with a slab of wood and hairpin legs from www.hairpinlegs.com . Looks like she made it with an IKEA top and ebay legs:

Wood is actually stronger with the wood grains this way. The structure is basically a bunch of tubes, so this way they're standing on end. End Grain Wood Floors at the Standard Hotel |

Aside from the potential pressure treated chemicals and maybe lead paint chips, it really bugs me that it's not the full width of the bed. so it looks like art hung behind the bed, and not a headboard. DIY Fence Board Headboard House Tweaking |

I with the unhelpful camp... What are you saving the couch for? Resale value? The desire to keep it nice? I understand using a slip cover to cover up a couch that is in rough shape, but covering a gorgeous couch to protect the surface doesn't make sense to me unless you really want to resell it or pass it on to your kids or something. Why not just keep it uncovered, and maybe some day down the road get it reupholstered. If you do go the slipcover route, i definitely agree that it should be custom to the clean lines and not cover the legs. A Less Shabby Slipcover Solution? Good Questions |
