It's interesting that the photo right under the title features a beige-painted ceiling. It shows that in some cases gray, white and beige paint can coexist in one room (even if that wasn't supposed to be the point).

Better Than Beige: 6 Nice & Neutral Wall Paint Colors

Keep the poufs! Hot pink + orange + aqua = a happy fiesta. If any one of those three colors was missing, the other two wouldn't look right together. It's a nice balance, especially against the background of crisp white paint along with natural wood and brick. I learned something about color from this living room. Yay!

Several months ago, there was a "Before and After" craft room in Austin that I wish I could find again. Anyway, the work desk ended up under the window facing out, and the resident made some great curtains. They were yellow and white chevron print, on a very wide rod - the whole width of the wall. They weren't long, just past the bottom of the sill. I know chevron print has been around a while now, but anyway, I think that configuration of wide and short curtains would work well in your space; as long as the fabric is lightweight but not sheer. It will much more pleasant to be able to look out the window when working at the desk. Maybe add a large potted plant beside the desk, in the souwest corner of the room. The cane bookcase? Ask if you can paint it. A good color to freshen up old cane furniture is red orange - a hue borrowed from Chinese lacquer red. (Again, an idea from an AT post.) A nice chair in northeast corner would make a great little reading nook. I'm thinking Ikea Poang.

A sweet little nest. I would have liked a floor plan too, but thanks for sharing the photos. I take it the stove is in the corner past the fridge, and the love seat arm serves as a step? Maybe the door in the back of the kitchen leads to a small bathroom? Really cute and fresh decorating choices.

I consider this a definite improvement, with just a few misgivings. Poang chairs rock. It certainly was smart to add the little desk to get the laptop and mail off the dining table. The new dining chairs fit the room much better than the old ones did, but are the arms comfortable for children? As a short person, I find that some arm chairs force my shoulders to hunch - if the kids are getting fidgety at dinner, consider using those chairs for grown-up use only. (They could probably even be patio chairs.) Then, all the throw pillows are super cute, but now there is no room to sit on the sofa or the chairs. (Another reason this photo shoot seems a little too staged.) But here's a thought: couldn't those sofa back cushions be removed, and then the throw pillows be moved back? The back cushions seem to be the type that are sewn down, but surely the family knows some clever DIY maven who could figure it out.

A huge improvement! You have made wise choices not just for your own comfort, but also your resale value. I see your point about the stair rail, but redoing it may be too much trouble and expense for the reward; it might be different if this was your "forever" home.
(For some reason, I'm thinking of clear-stained wooden blinds but that's just me. Nothing is wrong with the white blinds.)

Just what a kitchen should be. Beautiful & functional, in style yet timeless. Black always looks good in a kitchen, but if the counters and backsplash are too dark prepping food can feel like working in a cave. So, it was a great idea to make those white and the use the black on the cabinets. Very sharp!

Repeating what a lot of others have said, but do go see it in person. It's worth a shot. Pink looks very nice with gold, pale gray, white and/or navy blue. Do you like those colors? If the relatively rare shape is what you really want and you can work with the color and condition for a few years while you save for new upholstery, go for it. When you are there with the sofa and the owner you can decide whether you want to haggle on the price. Here is a similar post from AT with a lot of photos of pink sofas in finished rooms:

There is something so sweet about how the the tree slice table and the three MCM yellow chairs complement each other. Genius.

I know plain spray paint holds up very well on a lot of outdoor furniture, although I haven't tried it on metal yet. Enjoy!

(I just turned a wide shower chair into a color-blocked garden bench with spray paint. I settled on orchid, aqua and purple, very similar to your color scheme. The selection really is mesmerizing. I left the aluminum legs bare, but seeing your project makes think I should go back and paint them too.)

Before & After: A Cramped Kitchen Gets a Big Change

This really charming, but more of a house call than a house tour since we didn't get to see much outside the living room. But it is a nicely decorated living room. Sweet and comfortable without being overdone. Clever use of the horse blanket.

"Craftsman" covers a lot of territory. Basically, Craftsman style celebrates the fruits of skilled labor as a design element. In many Craftsman homes, the woodwork is what stands out, but here the bricklaying and plaster work (especially the niche) around the fireplace and the tile on the kitchen counter are certainly in line with the craftsman aesthetic. The rather complicated porch posts are craftsman too. Maybe there is more tile work in the bathroom, but we didn't get to see.

I wonder if originally there was wider wood trim, but it was "modernized" at some point. Although MCM and Craftsman (and Art Deco and Art Nouveau) look perfectly compatible to us now (hey, it's all vintage), sadly, back in the 60s Craftsman elements were often derided and ripped out. I'm glad this house kept its Craftsman spirit.

The pan inspires me to go make an omelet now.

And, what is that paint color in the living room?

Adorable; a huge improvement. Good choice to paint the hardware white! It looks like frosting on an expensive wedding cake. I agree it is no sin to paint veneer.

The green paint is a nice touch, but I also agree with Birch about the vertical pulls. They were a standout and it would have been good to keep them. Since the center drawers are open now, those don't even need hardware. And just one small thing more - that rail around the bottom is also a stylish element. By painting it black, it disappeared. IMHO, keeping the vertical pulls in place and painting both them and the bottom rail in a third color would have been super cute. Metallic gold or Brownie orange, maybe? Or shiny white for the "feminine" element you seek?
