I live in a 2 bedroom apartment. I only have 2 trashcans--one main one in the kitchen and one small one in the bathroom. THat is all I need. WHy clutter up rooms with trashcans? I produce no trash in the bedrooms. I check my mail in the kitchen and what i accumulate around the couch in the evenings goes with me when I get up. Simple.

I definitely get around on the internet but I have never heard of pinterest. Am I living under a rock for real?

I do no seasonal decorating. Yes, I live in an apartment but even if I had a house I wouldn't. I am 45 and have never decorated for Christmas, Halloween, etc. Call me a scrooge but I get no enjoyment out of spending money on decorations that only stay up a couple weeks, finding somewhere to store it, wrestling with myself to take it down and put it up and so on. I spend Christmas at my mom's, so I let her decorate to her heart's content. It just isn't my thing--but I know I am definitely the minority. I am into putting less on my to-do list instead of more. :)

I think temperature is what you get accustomed to. My favorite sleeping temps are actually around 84-85 degrees. So i actually look forward to summer nights w/o the AC!!

I have these exact shakers and love them. I bought mine probably 6-7 years ago at a Linens'n'Things store. They're perfect and go with my "Coke" decor.

I think the comment in the article about it running 24/7 was meant to be sarcastic humor--like you know how it is always dropping a cube or two at all hours of the day or night. Yes, they stop making ice when the lever reaches a certain point, but kicks back on when you remove cubes. I turned mine off by lifting the lever a long time ago. I don't use enough ice that when i would grab a cube, it would taste bad cause it has been in the bin too long. So i make my own using trays and it works much better.

I will use something already in the trash to scoop out the bacon grease from the pan. Like a piece of cardboard from a cereal box, frozen dinner, etc or anything else handy. I am with most everyone else--i have 2 uses for papertowels--cleaning up after the dog and for bacon, sausage, etc. A roll lasts a long time for me.

Toaster ovens will do everything that a big oven will do. I bake cookies, cornbread and muffins in mine--the key is to preheat for about 5 min and turn the cookie/muffin pan around about halfway thru to get even broiler contact. I make meatloaf in my toaster oven. I broil steaks, pork chops and chicken. It is used 5 times more often than my microwave. I pop in pizza rolls, frozen french fries, chicken nuggets, etc. And its great for warming up cold pizza. LOVE MY toaster oven. I have lived in my apartment for almost 3 years and my oven has been used maybe 4 times.
