Why, oh why must I fall in love with a $14,000 sofa?!

Either the freezing or the overnighting. Maybe 2nd or 3rd day (overnight is so expensive!)

Ditto the pound cake; in fact, I've shipped my chocolate pound cake (which calls for buttermilk) with no problems.

I froze it, then shipped overnight and receiver said cake was still frozen!

Next time I'm not sure I would bother with either, since a good pound cake (well wrapped) keeps several days on the counter with no problems.

Also, it's served chilled (because of the mousse and cool whip, course) so it's perfect on a hot summer day.

Our special family "Christmas Dessert" is Death by Chocolate.

It's a trifle made of Kahlua-soaked brownies, chocolate mousse, crushed heath bar, and Cool Whip.

You could substitute the kahlua for chambord and the heath bar for fresh raspberries, or use peppermint in place of the heath bar if that floats your boat.

Travesty!

You left out my favorite Kitchn Sandwich EVER: http://www.thekitchn.com/thekitchn/quick-weeknight-meals-2009/laurens-new-orleansstyle-vegan-muffuletta-quick-weeknight-meals-recipe-contest-2009-096512

Great for vegans and omnivores alike and especially wonderful for lunch with company.

I don't know if anyone's posted this yet, but it's beautiful, the right dimensions, and recycled/reclaimed wood!

Ditto Trish. OHIO is my mantra for paper. "Only handle it once." That means, I don't open the mail and then put it in to-do piles. Wedding invitation? I RSVP as soon as I open it, etc.

Sounds pretty similar to my all time Italian favorite panna cotta.

Ditto cicero.

We are vegan and near-vegetarian in my house, and we find that home made whole foods taste better, are more nutritious, and visiting meat-eaters are more open-minded toward trying them.

That said, the occasional box of "chicken" nuggets for the kiddos or chili "dogs" for us are within the realm of a balanced diet. We consider them treats.

Ditto Ten Thousand Villages. In Winston-Salem, NC, we have "World Villages"--same deal. All kinds of great fair trade artisan made goodies. Plenty of baskets to choose from.

I've been DYING for an armoire that I don't love so that I can try this:

I say, sell the desk and paint the armoire in one of the shades of teal or aqua that you mentioned. Maybe replace the wooden knobs for some amazing pulls.

Throw something ugly and electronic (say a tv?) or in that sucker or store your clutter there.

What about toxioplasmosis? (sp?)

I thought pet poo shouldn't be used on any edible garden (even composted pet poo) because the eggs of the above (bacteria?) can survive composting... I'd be nervous to try given the problems that can develop in humans as a result of that nastiness.

@ Tequila Red... Hardly a fair comparison, Jessica's bungalow is beautiful but completely different than YHL's ranch.

I love YHL's blog--they've got great tips for DIY and organizing, in particular, and though their home is not my home, they've made a phenomenal transformation.

Who's to say that this gorgeous neutral palette and comfortable furnishings isn't exactly "them." I get the impression that John and Sherry are drawn to neutrals, calm schemes, and pottery barn, the way I am drawn to reds, oranges, and yard sales!

And a throw! A lovely cable-knit throw in a rich fall color. I love this one from CB2: http://www.cb2.com/family.aspx?c=595&f=5447

They also have some great pillows that mock sweaters and would work well. (Modern and "grown up"... sometimes the graphic print, felt appliques, etc, feel too punk rock high school): http://www.cb2.com/family.aspx?c=595&f=5355
or

with something like this

(BTW, that green is the moss color I was talking for the wall... though maybe not shiny/sparkly. It's hard to tell from the pillow pick whether the threads are matte or not.)
