My two cents: the room is fun, the rug does a gently punchy sweet and sour vs the wallpaper, the bedding seems nonchalant, the proportions (as much as are shown in the image) are inviting. Not to start a tiff, but I never trust anyone who rehearses the generalism 'let the [feature X] be a 'pop' of color'. I hear this and I feel like all the world wants to live in a time share condo in Maui circa 1988. Apartment Therapy New York | Luxe for Less: Inexpensive Alternatives |

Since 2004. Only four years? I know that's considered longish for Hayes Valley, but it seems not that lengthy for any neighborhood in any area of the world to me. Other than that, I have to say I do like the store and purchased table linens there last summer. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Scandinavian Details |

I was so sad when they lost the lease next door - the back patio, as scrappy as it was, did have sun and shade. These terrarium cases seem to evoke some of the greenery they lost. By the way, the new location is wonderful! Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Look!: Plant Displays at Frjtz |

I was actually going to leave a lightly punny comment, something good natured, when I decided to scan some of the previous comments until I got up to the wood whatever person. Wow. It takes a pretty shrill lack of style to respond that. It actually made me take another look at the photos and realize just how spontaneous and fun Sam's place is. Thanks for sharing Sam, its great when you can view a place and really get a feel for a little (or lot) of what someone likes and loves. I was reminded of the things you wrote about travelling to Finland with your father as a youngster. It's funny that what is pretentious to one person is the essence of ease and unpretentiousness to another. I'm so happy to see this set of cutlery (flatware) highlighted! I have many sets, but this one has a subtlety that my similar Ikea set cannot match (nor my Hackman Citterio set that I had earlier but was dreaming of this set until it was produced) for one very important reason - it is created with such consistently high refinement, each item down to the espresso spoon delights me. I really like my Ikea and Hackman set (I mention them because they seem to be from the same school of thought) but they are so, so, so very distant second place finishers compared to the quality of this Jasper Morrison for Alessi set. Now I think I'll go have something to eat just to use them again. Cheers! Apartment Therapy New York | KnifeForkSpoon Flatware: By Jasper Morrison |
