I love the idea (especially as a health care professional that works a ton of summer camps), but my husband immediately said "welcome to that kid not making any friends this summer". I think it could absolutely help in busy situations though for little kids - field trips, day camp, etc

This article is fantastic! We did the same when planning our trip to San Sebastian last summer. A friend of a friend is a food critic in Donostia and sent us a few must tries as well as links to her blog for more local places. My husband and I went so far as to write each location down in a little blue moleskine notebook since neither of us speak Basque. There was a lot of pulling out the notebook to show strangers and excitement on their part when they realized where we wanted to go!

Lavender is also an aphrodisiac scent for males (esp mixed with vanilla!). Maybe we should all use it in our homes more often ;)

I absolutely love the stockings in #3, but can't get behind the price. We have stockings from years ago that are gorgeous-and were under $20! Since our family rule is "stocking stuffers" are under 20, I can't justify spending more (especially when handmade items are so affordable!)

I hope your husband is doing better, Sarah!

I second riye's suggestion of a scarf. Working in sports medicine, I'm often in the ER and visiting athletes post surgery. The scarf is something that keeps me warm, but can also serve as a discrete "germ barrier" when passing those not feeling so well.

Luna bars, soup bowls from Trader Joes, and juice boxes are always stowed away in my car incase a short ER trip turns long. The new healthy choice pasta bowls aren't bad either!

leehou- I agree! I think they are all gorgeous, but my tree is full of beautiful blown glass ornaments that reflect the light even more. I love taking 15 minutes each night, turning out the lights and sitting by our lit tree to unwind at night.

Not sure how I feel about white brick- but I LOVE how the frames in picture 1 are displayed. I just moved in to a place with exposed brick and can't figure out how to hang artwork on it. Any suggestions? I can't do brick clips because there isn't a "ledge" available. The wall is around 100 yrs old- tons of character, but the mortar is a bit crumbly in spots. Thanks for any advice in advance!

Being allergic to real trees in really bad ventillated areas, I've had faux evergreens forever. Last year was the first Christmas with my boyfriend and we did a blue and sliver snowflake tree. All 3' of it sparkled and made us feel so grown up! This year, the 3 footer is coming back out, but I was gifted a box of my grandmother's vintage ornaments. Here's to hoping the puppy doesn't find them too interesting!

We entertain a good bit, but hopefully more now that we're moving into a larger place. Seating has always been an issue, but our little group has come up with a solution- "not my chair, not my problem" or BYOC parties! Everyone struggles with the seating, so if you really want to sit at the table, bring a chair with you ;) It actually makes for a fun set up and a conversation starter depending on the chair.

I think the tub is amazing- and the comments so far make me wish I could play around with ideas! If you do decide to reglaze the tub white- please don't DIY it. Our rental had canary yellow tubs that I really didn't mind. The landlord did though and had her dad reglaze them with a kit. Needless to say, the paint comes off on my feet and flakes away every time I wash it with a foaming cleaner and soft rag. I'd much rather have a cheery yellow than something white and messy :(

By all means, if you want to change up your bedroom for under $50 (depending on your fabric choice), go the DIY route! I've made a few, ranging from twin to queen size beds. Mine has lasted through grad school, moving, and now has been reupholstered to meet the boy's requirements. To make life 100x easier, make friends with your Lowe's lumber guy. They'll cut basic lines for you and will even predrill for your hardware if needed. For the best backing, get memory foam mattress covers during back to school sales. $15 and they can be custom cut to your design. Have fun!

So cute! I just upholstered a headboard and it definitely changed the room. I never thought to do drawers, but now I'm thinking of getting something on craigslist just to try it!

I absolutely need one of these. Outdoor showers are probably my favorite thing about summer :) I'm sure my condo association wouldn't be too thrilled with me though haha

I really like idontdobeige's DIY wall/bookshelf idea. I think it could be a perfect bar/relax and read area for you. Place a tall open hutch in the corner then line the longer wall with shelves (as everyone thinks it's perfect). Tuck a reading chair in your "created" corner with the DIY wall and it's a cozy place to unwind!
