I'm so confused by the people who move into loft apartments and then solicit advice from strangers because they don't seem to understand what loft living entails.

The L pillows look awesome! All in all, I love the space and the selection. Our seed bombs are sold at the store as well.

The telephone table is also sometimes called a gossip bench, which I think is a really funny [but apt] name. I love the one in the photo!

I have to second abcornwell's comment that Oldham's impact on Harper's career is often overstated. Charley Harper was well-known and prolific for years and years before the publication of the monograph. I think Charley Harper: An Illustrated Life is a great capstone to a storied career, not any kind of revival.

I currently live in Cincinnati, where I know many more people who have grown up with Harper's work than who have ever heard of Todd Oldham. It's amazing to meet so many Charley Harper fans, many of whom have personal stories of having met him and also have been collecting his work for years.

On a side note, one of the plates features a fish from the Ford Times series of Harper prints, and it's actually based on a really early commission, done a couple of years after he graduated from art school. You can see it and read the full story here:

Fabulous Frames & Art, by the way, has been championing Harper's work since the 1970s, much longer than Oldham has.

That first photo REALLY looks Photoshopped. Still, a great color in a beautiful space.

Really beautiful and restrained! I love the bedding and agree with the splurge -- you spend almost 1/3 of your life in bed, so it's a worthy investment.

Nice table! BTW, some years back, we had a glorified hallway in our apartment that was just wide enough to house a dining table. Trouble was, it had to be no more than 30" wide, like what you needed. We ended up buying a thick piece of MDF, painting and finishing it, and then getting black metal legs for it, for a cost of maybe the $120 that you paid. It looked great and fit the odd space perfectly!

The one thing I did learn from this experiment is that MDF isn't the best material for a table. Our top was painted with so many coats to seal it that it looked a bit goopy. Plus, it had a tendency to sag in the middle because it was so long.

Oh, I'm obsessed with the work of Element, especially the gorgeous wall tiles! I'm working hard to try to justify making that purchase. And the Wallter bedspreads are amazing!

It's gorgeous! Of course, a quick look at her site revealed bright yellow and blue, which immediately had a very different feel from this office.

One thing I have to point out is that making a space seem bigger isn't always the goal. Dark paint, for instance, can make a space seem cozier. There's nothing wrong with that. I think we should be allowed to question this ideal of larger spaces, or spaces that seem larger than they are.

To respond to the above criticism, I think this may be an example of a technique that's more effective in person. I would guess that the photos don't really do the effect justice.

To me, it looks like a random mishmash of elements and styles, and also like a lot of effort given that it's not a high-quality piece of furniture. I would have left it as is while I save for the dresser I really want.

Hmm. I've had a good luck just clearing the floor in front of the wall where I'd like to hang a group of pictures, and then laying everything out on the floor. I measure the height of my composition to make sure it'll work on the wall, and then hang everything one by one based on my "mock-up." It's so straightforward.
