I'm a big fan of safari style, but this misses the point of a safari which is to live elegantly with less. The photo of the hats was an example of baffling exceess. Why would you need identical green hats unless you were planning to dress alike. Hollister & Porter's Williamsburg Safari House Tour | Apartment Therapy New York |

I once painted hideous pink PLASTIC bathroom tile with a coat of KILZ primer and some boat paint and it didn't bubble or peel in the 4 years I rented the place. This included the shower area and I take long showers. How To Repaint Stencil Ugly Rental Vinyl Tile Flooring Home Hacks | Apartment Therapy Los Angeles |

If you want a cozy look, use a cozy space. The best home I've seen on AT in a long time. It is fully original and uses space well. Makes me want to throw out my MC furniture and start over. Arden's Attic Abode House Call | Apartment Therapy Boston |

The wrought iron fixtures, black and white photography and lovely wood really unify this house. Although it's a bit big for my taste, at least the rooms are not sterile showcases for spindly mid-century (or contemporary) furniture that would be inappropriate. I like that they resisted fads and went more for casual classicism. Allison & Steve's Bethesda Masterpiece House Tour | Apartment Therapy DC |

I like this a lot. Teh kitchen hasn't been msessed with, the porch looks cozy. The bedroom plays up texture instead of "decorating" unnecessarily. A little more color or art in the living room and it would be perfect. Envy you. Patrick's Comfortable HomeHouse Call | Apartment Therapy Chicago |

I read about a flight attendant who taped a fresh tea bag to the bathroom door which kept the room smelling fresh. So I tried it at home, by leaving used teabags in a bowl and it worked very well. How To Clean and Deodorize With Tea Home Hacks | Apartment Therapy Los Angeles |

This looks awful. The TV screen has a logical reason for being there, but the fabric curtain partially obscuring a doorway does not. Besides that, the TV stand isn't completely hidden. If the whole doorway were covered, it would look less busy, but still, I don't see what's wrong with exposing a nice TV. How To Hide Your TV Using Fabric | Apartment Therapy Boston |

betterwall.com has museum banners that are big and bold enough to stand up to the TV. I'd hang one behind the red chair with its bottom edge flush with the console. Help Up With Our Big White Wall? Good Questions | Apartment Therapy New York |

I've done this for years. By including underwear, tights and accessories, I know if the tights for that outfit are in the wash before I get completely dressed. EASY Update? Painting window trim is never easy and if you want to change the color, stripping it or living with the paint buildup is challenging. If it's a simple window, go for it, but I would think long and hard before painting a window as elaborate as the first one. Easy Update: Paint Your Window Frames | Apartment Therapy Los Angeles |

This room really functions well. It is uncluttered without looking bare because of the use of color and texture. I like how there is a foundation of warm, earthy color with a pop of sky in the sofa and sunshine in the vases. Nicely done. From the way the coffee table is set up, it looks as if one person would have to hunch over from the couch to eat and the other would have to sit on the ugly carpet. Keep in mind this ranks walkable NEIGHBORHOODS not cities. I've lived in Chicago, Portland and Seattle and I can assure you, Seattle is NOT more walkable than the other two. One or two neighborhoods are walkable, but the city's steep hills and disconnected layout make it very hard to get around in on foot or by bike. Chicago, on the other hand, is a walker's paradise with most of the 23-mile lakefront preserved as park and a flat, logical grid of streets. I think it's great that the kid clutter is down. Must mean they limit their possessions, which is a good lesson to teach children. What I would like to see, though, is a color other than beige in that living room. Beige carpet AND beige couch! Yikes! Paired with white walls the place becomes quite lifeless. Maybe the kids could teach the parents a lesson here. Six in the City: Family of 6 in 1,200 Square Feet House Call | Apartment Therapy New York |

I just discovered a miracle product called Restore-A-Finish. I had wandered into a vintage store while the proprietor was using it on a console and it really revived a dull finish. So I bought some and used some on my midcentury chairs. Lovely. Took out the scratches and white spots and restored the new look to the chairs. I used the dark maple version which sort of looks like soy sauce coming out of the can, but there are other finishes available. It's a sort of tinted oil. Or you can go with clear. Just be sure to wipe off all the excess. I bought mine at Ace Hardware, but I'm told Home Depot also carries it. The chairs aren't perfect, since the product is trnaslucent, but they look much better than when I bought them. Apartment Therapy New York | Best Way to Refinish a Teak Dining Table? Good Questions |
