First off you folks need to report your story correctly, if you can't get the story right then don't bother reporting it.

It's not $199 for a single light bulb... As another source, http://www.macrumors.com/2012/10/29/phillips-to-sell-ios-controlled-led-light-bulbs-exclusively-through-apple-stores/, reported it's $199.95 for three bulbs and the system to make it all work from your iPhone or iPad. Additional bulbs are $59.95 each. So that means your paying $179.95 for the three bulbs and $20.01 for the wireless link which is capable of controlling up to 50 bulbs.

Does anyone remember the first portable calculators? $150 for a calculator. They have come down considerably since the so called "first adopters".

How does the Philips Ambilight system even compare to this? Thats a TV with a ring of colors around the screen?

You have got to be joking... heres what they posted for the cost of just the parts to build this...

"The cost for the aluminum Kee Lite fittings and aluminum pipe is around $2000.00. Using gator tube with Kee Klamp galvanized fittings will cut down the cost by 25% to around $1500. Prices do not include shipping."

For that kind of money I can purchase a desk already made and have it delivered, thus saving the trouble of the DIY which as I understand it traditionally means your saving money over ready built items... Not so in this case at all. I guess if you've got money to burn, go ahead and build away.

I like color, so these don't scare me off at all. Some I like more than others... but thats what makes the world interesting. It's almost the same with automobiles these days...very few people are willing to take a risk on something other than black, white or silver/grey. Shame since there just such common colors any more.

I like it also. I saw a floor such as this real life in a home earlier this year. Happened to be a reclaimed gym floor circa 1930's from a building that my grandfather probably helped construct in Wildhorse Oklahoma so it has a bit of sentimental value to me as well.

I don't see the point of one gold key. Especially one that doesn't match the shape of the surrounding ones... and this is advertised as a "custom" made item. I believe this falls under the category of "save your money for something useful".

Great looking apartment Meret. You mentioned in the writeup that the sleeping area is just tall enough for yourself to stand up in... what height are the ceilings in the sleeping and kitchen area below? Also why the lack of full height in the office area as compared to the living/dining area?
