We haven't tried LED candles but the battery operated tea lights from Jysk are great! They even flicker like a real candle and last for hours. The batteries could be replaced if you wish to use them longer. We also use LED mini-flashlights from Sylvania called "Dot-it". They are flat on the bottom, quite compact, and have normal type batteries that you can replace. They look like they would work well in lanterns. Having just about finished a kitchen renovation I wonder if this is green because they used the wire to hang pots on instead of building traditional cabinets? We chose to just paint the real wood cabinets in our kitchen reno and while the work was ongoing I learned to rethink the way a kitchen is used. I've chosen to keep my cutlery on shelves in trays and dishes in a buffet instead of adding more cabinets. Functional Green Decor: Gridwall Panels in the Kitchen | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

Me too. Even though my new washer has a warm cycle I don't choose to use it. When we moved last fall the house we purchased came with a front load washer. I soon learned that this is not a clean machine and is a real back breaker so it went up for sale and I went shopping for a really basic washer. I was happy to notice that the one I bought had a cold only rinse. There was a warm wash cycle if a person wanted to use it but rinse only came in cold. I thought that was brilliant and responsible. I was rather dismayed to see that most of the stores only had those front load machines though - they really are not easy on the body when you go to use them and it was next to impossible to get the ugly dirty water out of the front of it. Besides being certified organic growers, we have small dogs so are careful what we put where they may be. The very best pest control we've come across is sticky traps. These can be purchased for about a dollar each (I cut them in half) at most department or big box stores. You put these where you want them to work (for mice, put them in corners - mice run in straight lines) and when they have done their job put a plastic bag inside out over your hand and use it to pick up the trap. Pull the bag down over the trap and off your hand, tie it shut and dispose of it in the trash. Safe, easy, non toxic and really efficient. Natural and Non-Toxic Ways To Get Rid of Bugs Pests? Vases full of flowers. I buy inexpensive bouquets at the grocery store and put them in several vases which I spread around the house. Amazing how much water evaporates every day! How To: Add Moisture to the Air without a humidifier | Apartment Therapy New York |

Personally, I spell camping m-o-t-e-l, LOL but... we're in the middle of forest fires in our area this summer and I think these would be wonderful for the firefighters who we keep hearing are in camps out there when it's close to 100 F. Apartment Therapy Re-Nest | Hot or Not? Solar Tent by Orange |
