hello katie - I find that when I put bottles in the dishwasher they are not dry at the end of the cycle (whereas my dishes are always dry) and I end up putting them on the drying rack.

Does anyone know what kind of flooring is featured in the first picture? It kind of looks like rubberized flooring (versus flor carpeting) and I'm currently in the market for something kid friendly. The only other option seems to be the ABC/123 rubber flooring.

I was originally thinking shelves because extra storage in the bathroom is always good, or you could place some candles, etc there. But hanging a full length mirror as home body suggested is probably the easiest.

I have always LOVED that Paul Smith rug (#1), but it is way out of my price range and none of the "copies" seem to do it justice.

Love the watermelon table! It really looks great against the white walls and dark floors.

However, I agree with sunset regarding the chairs. If they are not authentic series 7s, I would consider painting them white (or maybe another color, but you seem to be bringing a lot of different colors in with table settings).

I am a lawyer and dealing with a similar problem. Here is what to do, in order:
1. Talk to your neighbor politely
2. Look at your lease and see if nuisance is prohibited. It should be in there.
3. Send a certified letter to your neighbor, and copy the managing agent, saying that he or she is in violation of the lease and you plan to pursue al remedies in the lease and at law.
This should get the managing agent moving.

I used to walk by that townhouse every day when I lived on 11th Street. I immediately knew where it was before reading the post. The pictures do not do it justice.

Keep the plastic bins - they provide storage, keep the contents dust free and are easy to wipe down. Manhattan gets VERY dusty, especially under a bed. I can't even imagine trying to clean the dust off baskets stored under my bed.

With or without a bedskirt, I think the place looks great. Sofa doesn't look that comfy, but you can curl up in bed to watch a movie.

@ lisetiffner: I have an almost identical light from lampsplus.com. Try doing a search for "drum shade" on the site.

I agree with what a few others have said - move the fridge back to the left hand corner (to the left of the sink), remove that odd counter that is cutting across the window and add a butcher block perpendicular to the window, but on the outside of the kitchen.

Wow - this is a great apartment. A little too cluttered for my taste, but very well done.

I think what makes this apartment really good is that it really does have defined areas even though it is so small. All the colors work well together, too.

Definitely either keep your current closet doors or get new ones/hang a curtain. Do you really want to see the inside of your closet all the time? I think it would also get dusty faster without doors.

Once or twice a year, or after I'm sick.

My washing machine is small so I usually take it to my parents house.

I grew up in the eighties and my parents put the following in our den: brown velvet sofa (left over from the 70s), 2 beige woven sofas, light beige carpet, copper fireplace, 2 brass lamps with pleated shades, and mid-century coffee table (leftover from when my dad was a bachelor).

That was a NY suburb. I agree with perfidia that this may have been somewhere warmer.

Target online has a huge selection of lamps. Last time I checked, they had a similar lamp in blue. Do a search for yellow.

I agree with burnttoast - one lamp on the side with a nice tray of glassware/spirits on top.

Wait until you find things during your normal life to fill the shelves. I try to pick something up whenever I'm on vacation. Or when something catches my eye at a flea market.

I agree with Colleen. My first thoughts looking at the picture were to (1) change the shelves, (2) new desk chair, and (3) larger and brighter rug.

On second glance, I think the bedding is a bit drab looking, even though it is light. How about something with a bright color to go with the new rug?

I would also add a lamp and change the pot on that plant.
