A fellow Alexandrian (and Parkfairfax resident, perhaps? looks possible from the window) with great taste! I'll have to live vicariously through you since I didn't get my act together in time to enter this year, but we share a love for navy paint and egg crate and faux branch jewelry holders. Love your coral bed and lamp!

I feel like this post was written just for me. I'm in the same position (divorce though, but also mutual and drama-free), except I'm in DC. Budget and pet-friendliness (for my smallish--but still over 25lb--golden retriever) are equally big for me. Next I'd rate "charm," which is probably the same as "neighborhood" for you. Safety is also important, of course, but I find that the neighborhoods I find charming are also pretty safe. I hope you'll keep us updated about your journey to a new place!

I like the bedskirts from the BB&B line, but that's about it. The duvets are pretty terrible. I'll withhold judgment on the sheets until I see them in person.

I'm all about the maximalist bedrooms, but my husband's more into the minimalist ones. Sigh. Must compromise...

I love the look of two twin beds. I actually have a whole Pinterest board devoted to them: http://pinterest.com/30dtfml/twin-beds/
I'm not sure what that says about me...

It's so great! Constant stream of gorgeous images and a cool way to get introduced to new (to me) artists, websites, brands, etc. As everyone keeps saying, it's totally addictive!

Love the coziness of the 4th photo! And yes, that view is pretty incredible!

And even though I don't love the 3rd photo, I do like the idea of matching the cabinets to the wall color. Smart!

The Carly Chair is surprisingly cool for C&B. It's sort of Jonathan Adler-ish for people with smaller budgets. Like!

I think it's interesting that both this post and the one linked to are qualified with the phrase "not for everyone." Is any good design "for everyone"? Personally, I think both the hotel and the home are awesome, but am generally less inspired by the heavily MCM-influenced home tours that are more common here, none of which come with caveats.

But I digress... Mostly, I'd just love to stay at this hotel!

@Kaz I read in one study that talking on a cell phone--whether hands-free or not--diminishes your reaction time way more than talking to someone in the car. I'm not really sure why. I think they said it's because talking on a cell phone requires more concentration since you don't have the benefit of non-verbal cues.

Always, I just thought I'd share since you asked.

@bynskimiss, it's so funny how different people's tastes are. Your least favorites were closer to the top of my list. I loved the blue window treatments and the brass hardware, and was a fan of the houndstooth rug too.

I also loved the whole office area (including the curtains in there) and would die for the JA chairs. They're beautiful! The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the TV credenza, but I know that most of the AT community will be gushing over it. :) All in all, I second @mime, it's one sexy pad!

Ok, off to peruse PCP now...

These are beautiful. I like the idea of mixing and matching, but you're right, you'll be happy with whatever you choose.

My absolute favorite exterior combination is a warm clay gray siding and an orange door (a shade like the one in pic #7).

I don't normally think of orange as a color I like, so I'm surprised by how strongly I'm drawn to some of these images. I love the first one (well, maybe not the rug--but everything else). I might have to rethink my color preferences.

My husband is completely starch-free because he has some pretty serious inflammation issues, but he's indicated that he's probably going to partake on Thanksgiving (this will be the first turkey day on the diet). I don't think his southern grandmother would be very receptive to altering her traditional recipes, so he'd basically be eating a lot of turkey otherwise.

I'm going to bring a dessert from The Gluten-Free Almond Flour Cookbook so he can enjoy something sweet without worrying about how he'll feel later. I highly recommend the cookbook for people who are catering to others with dietary restrictions (or those cooking for themselves, obviously). All the recipes are gluten-free, many are completely starch-free, and a bunch are vegan. We've enjoyed some excellent recipes from there (though, of course, there were some flops too...).

As someone who now cooks starch-free all the time but not for myself, I have to say that I'd be pretty crushed if we couldn't have mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, etc on Thanksgiving because of his diet. If I were hosting I'd certainly make sure there were some dishes just for him, but I wouldn't be willing to toss out all of the traditional stuff just because he couldn't eat it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who craves the most traditional food on this particular holiday!

The Kartell catalog is hard to find, especially because the link in Marketplace is broken...

Charlotte's suggestion makes more sense anyway. What's the point of taking us to Marketplace in the first place?
