First house me and my husband lived in, there was a smell coming from all of the closets and a horrible smell coming from the kitchen. I have asthma, and I was so sick the whole 9 months we lived there. I ended up having to get rid of almost all of my clothes because the smell permeated them. We asked the landlord to check it out, and he pulled out a dead mouse from underneath the house, but the smell was still there. When we finally moved out, we hasn't gotten our security deposit back, so we called the landlord, and turns all of the floors had molded underneath the carpeting and in the kitchen. Landlord wanted to keep our security deposit, but we told him it wasn't our fault and he eventually gave it back. Second place was pretty good, although we did have someone barge into our apartment (while we were sleeping!) one morning and claim that they were cleaning carpets, and we had to move all of our stuff except furniture off the floor within an hour. Then they never came to clean our carpets. Wtf?? The place we are in now is a little older, but the actual apartment isn't too bad. The laundry room, however, is another story. The last time I used it, the floor was covered in water, only one washer and dryer worked (out of the 5 of each that are in there), and the fire alarm went off every time I walked through the door to check on my laundry. Then I noticed the light fixture (with exposed wires) barely dangling above the ceiling fans, which would spark and smoke, causing the fire alarm to go off. Called maintenance several times to tell them about the problem, someone called the fire dept because they heard the smoke alarm, so they eventually showed up. Still hasn't been fixed. Now I pack up my laundry and drive to my brothers house to do laundry. Can't wait to move in may!
