I installed this in my kitchen about 2 yrs ago and am still in love -- but as recommended by the above posters, I used in relatively small quantities and mixed with higher end materials and appliances. The cabinets are a dead ringer for those featured in the red Poggenpohl kitchen -- several visitors have been surprised that they are Ikea. My countertop is cararra marble (not a very high grade, so not more expensive that other stones); instead of upper cabinets, I opted for 2 rows of gruntal shelves with very neat stacks of white dishes; remarkably, they have remained clutter free. Contrary to above assumptions, the cabinets are fairly smudge proof and not a 'pia' to clean as stainless steel -- my 2 kids under 6 have had ample oppurtunity to put that feature to the test.

I love my red abstrakt red (which is more raspberry than red); as I said, I still get a thrill from my kitchen.

I love the credenza; the source listing states that it is "DMI" -- anyone know what that is? I've never heard of the company. Thanks.

We were successful with the device that electrocutes -- supposedly humane, but not so sure about that based on the loud, gruesome zapping sound as the deed is taking place -- and I know that because my husband and I were on a stakeout to try to determine its movements and why it was eluding the traps. Whatever method is used MUST MUST be accompanied by a thorough check and blocking of every possible crevice in the apartment -- you absolutely have to crawl around on hands and knees with a flashlight and plug up those openings.

I DETEST mice and ripped out my kitchen to make sure there were no entry points in the apt (extreme perhaps, especially since I rent, but that's how much I hate them -- I can feel the bile rising again as I remember watching that little bastard cavort on the rug where my kids were playing just hours before and then running up and down the sides of their high chairs).

p.s. I don't find movies like Ratatouille amusing in the slightest! Forgive the rant. Plug up those openings.

Curtis and Polkadot -- thanks for your advice -- the pipe gets extremely hot during the winter so I guess I'll have to find an alternative cover -- maybe build a box and then tile or use the rope idea previously mentioned.

I have one of those floor to ceiling radiator pipes (technical term?) in my bathroom and am considering wrapping it in small glass mosaic tiles -- does anyone know if this works? What happens when the heat of the radiator meets the tile adhesive?
