I always use it on Pizza. My friends can't figure out why my pizza is so good. Doesn't matter whether it's homemade, store bought, or delivered. I sprinkling of Curry Powder before service, and folks rave. In Defense of Curry Powder |

I'd like to take this moment to point out that restaurant sized tortillas, are a bit larger than your store bought variety. Growing up we used to have a huge Lilac bush along the side of the house, and I loved it. Now living in Southern California I miss the smell, and the blooms. I also miss the bright yellow pop of forsythia. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that misses east coast plants, while living on the west coast. When ever I've made the Bon Appetit Chocolate Ribbon cake (http://www.bonappetit.com/blogsandforums/blogs/badaily/ribbon-cake-composite.jpg) that's a show stopper. Back when I was going to culinary school, I lived in a very eclectic house. My Landlady was my nutrition/baking chemistry teacher (she was also a friend and an employer). Her husband was from Italy, and was known for awesome polenta parties. Sadly enough, in the four years I was there, they never held a polenta party, but there was plenty of talk about them. My Library contains 1294 books, and 1144 are physical books, not ebooks. I cherish each and every one of them that comes with a Dust Jacket. To me, this discussion is a bit like saying, "Heck let's paint out the background of this Mona Lisa piece, because people only care about her smile, no one is looking at the background!" If you're not going to preserve the dust jacket with the book, just buy paperbacks. Should I Save My Book Dust Jackets? Good Questions |

Since I've already had my birthday for 2013, I can share what I did. I had 8 folks in, and served Beer Hoisin braised short ribs, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts with pancetta and a balsamic reduction. The vegetarian in the group got, grilled portabello mushrooms in a marsala cream sauce, over grilled polenta cakes; which everyone then wanted to try. Dessert was of course birthday cake, and for me it was a simple Yellow Cake, with a Chocolate Sour Cream Frosting. There was plenty of red wine served, mostly a Pinot Nior from McMannus winery. I prefer 'Apples to Apples', or 'Cards Against Humanity' for party games. They can be played with large numbers of people, and there is very little in the way of rules, strategy, or strong competitive streak to play. Party Intelligence Gathering: What's Your Favorite Party Game? |
