I'm a fan of simple parties--it's what we usually do for our kids. But if someone wants to throw a big bash, so what? Their money, their child, their business. Saying you wouldn't want to go to a party like this is ridiculous, in my opinion. Big or small, one balloon or deco galore, the kids have fun. I don't know about anyone else, but if my kids are having a good time, it's all good.

And for the record, I'm planning my son's upcoming birthday and I shamelessly admit I'm having way too much fun planning it. It's the first year he has asked for a specific theme, which he's really excited about: a NYC subway system party, more specifically of the R train/line. And it's so easy to find cheap or free stuff since we're NYC dwellers, that it's been nice, knowing it will put a huge smile on his face. And to me, that will make it all worth it.

I liked Elsa for our daughter but the husband nixed it. :-( Cute party, though. I'm a sucker for bright and colorful. And love the folder tabs idea.

I had to pin this! The colors are very similar to the ones I'm planning on using for my daughter's first birthday party, and that fabric garland is beautiful. Really like.

I hate baths for myself, so never give them to my kids. I don't like sitting water in a tub. They always take showers, including the 6-month-old, sitting in a little mesh seat. My older child is almost four. Don't see why a three-year-old can't take a shower.

Love the popcorn hydrangeas also! We were doing a circus train theme for my son's upcoming party, but now he wants it to be of the NYC subway trains. But I'm still hoping to make a circus party one day, so saving this for future reference.

Linnybee, I was just commenting on another blog about planning my kids' parties since I was still pregnant, so don't worry, you are not alone. ;) I've been buying for their parties since the beginning of the year, for late summer/early fall parties.

Hell, I'm a SAHM and have yet to find a playgroup that works for us (too clique-y usually). That's great that you found one! I'm sure your daughter is loving having you around all the time.

Aww, I have a 3.5-year-old son who loves pink too. He always goes for the pink crayons also. There have been some good ideas mentioned, hope you submit whatever you end up doing. I'd love to see.
