I put on a similar party for my husband's birthday. I did "old fashioned" library cards with pocket for the invitations, a cake shaped like an open book, handmade bookmarks for favors, and "book/literature" themed food/drink, Cider House Rules (apple cider) Green Eggs and Ham (self explanatory) Bean Trees, Like Water for Chocolate, you get the idea. Also had games/quizzes with prize of Bananagrams.

As a mural and furniture artist I love these and hope that we can be more open to "faux finishes" that got such a bad reputation in the 80's like sponging. When executed properly and professionally the decorative arts can be stunning! Bravo for posting these well done floor ideas!
