I understand the wood purists point of view here, but honestly this is a really well done remodel and ultimately what makes AT so interesting is seeing different takes on traditional design.

I always find it interesting when those who don't like the modern clean style say it has no personality. I completely disagree btw, I think this house has tons of personality, they just choose to live in a more modern streamlined home.

I agree with the other posters, this is a wonderfully curated home, and a nice respite from the same old same old.

This home has some wonderful elements, it has the look and feel of instant comfort but it is also well edited as well.

I'm sorry but who in their right mind is going to spend 200-500 dollars on an Ikea slipcover?

Nice to see such an authentic and well edited space.

I too like that this couple bought this home without the intent to just gut it, but to use the elements faithfully.

Great job!

It's interesting how the European aesthetic is really starting to cross over here in the States. To them, its simply practical and yet beautiful to mix era's and styles but in our culture so used to buying everything in "sets" and all at once from one store or another it's very much a new idea. Great tour, hope to see more like it.

I think this is a wonderful example of a person who has managed to blend their passion into their design. A wonderfully refreshing post to see, so comfortable and elegant, yet deeply personal.

Some Suggestions:

1. Paint - a rich navy blue might be fun

2. Drapery- think velvet or linen

3. Fireplace - I would leave the brick as is, possibly adding a different hearth piece and a nice reclaimed wood shelf to replace the white one, something with a rustic lodge feel.

4. TV could be mounted on fireplace or large mirror or art piece on fireplace, sconces would be a nice touch.

5. Furniture - chairs flanking each side of the fireplace, sofa across and a sofa table behind would be the classic setup.

I wouldn't try and do everything all at once, just work on things as the budget allows, keeping in mind your overall design goal.

For starters, to give the space a hunting lodge vibe you could paint the top border a nice deep dark green and add some vintage art to the walls.

Paint the room a mossy/dark green, add some roman shades in a lighter color, maybe a taupe. And then update with some clay red sheets in satin maybe to match the comforter.

I would also update with dark wood furniture in an espresso finish, you can go high end or low depending on budget.

And some more modern art possibly to update the look as well.

Hope some of this helps.
