I've hung a coat hanger just above my thermostat that I use exclusively for scarves. I suppose that would screw up the temperature reading, if that is how it works--but I haven't noticed a difference yet.

@Doobie: YES. It's the only reason I'm reading these comments, actually.

Ooh, I especially appreciate that last photo. Even if they're not my dream offices, they help me see the potential in my workplace: off-white walls, suspended ceiling tiles, and gray tight-knit carpet. It'll never be ideal, but maybe it can be slightly more beautiful. Thank you!

Love that detective-style door! (Although maybe I'm just on an "L.A. Noire" crime drama kick.)

My roommate and I finally decided to make our "dining room" an office space. It'd be ideal to have room for both, but it's kind of like that dress you just know you can't pull off; be honest with yourself, let it go, and revisit the subject later.

Agreed, fragglefemme. The rumpled look is so inviting, and easy to maintain. Studies also show that an unmade bed is better for your sex life!

Any video gamers who have played "Stacking" recently? All the characters--including yourself--are Russian nesting dolls.

Sorry for the tangent, but it's delightful!

I don't think it's a good idea to get competitive about what our budgets are. This service is a great idea, and I'm sure many of us *wish* we had that kind of cash to drop on a lamp. But as it stands, I can choose my own lamp color by buying spray paint.

As a gamer myself, I'm glad that more indoor-types will be getting a little physical activity. Nothing can compare to the real thing, of course, but MAN, Kinect is fun.

I LOVE this couch!! Where's it from? Anyone?

I love that your decor isn't "matchy-matchy," as they say. And the white walls help to keep things light and airy, without sacrificing plenty of color. Looks nice!

That first poster does remind me a bit of my Typography 101 class. Creating objects out of text is tempting, but very hard to pull off.

Thanks to everyone for their input! I completely agree with basically every comment--the wall color does tend to have a "dingy" feel, but the more comfortable I get there, the more I think it's charming. I'll try to decorate in a way that lets it speak for itself.

I've been planning some bold yellow accents for some time now; and beyond that, it's nice to be reassured that the walls are neutral enough to accommodate lots of palette choices.

I'll definitely be uploading some "after" shots when I feel like the place is ready. :)

As a graphic designer, I have to say there's nothing as lovely to me as white space. I love the idea of using an empty frame to celebrate it.

Buy some sheer white curtains, and just keep them closed. The sunlight has no problem getting in, and you can actually see quite clearly through them. (They look nice with some heavier, colored curtains framing them on either side.)

The one drawback is that you'll still have to close your blinds at night. Once it's dusk outside, they won't obscure your neighbors' view.
