I can relate to this article. I feel the pressure to have everything "just so" in our new apartment in a new city. I just love it so much that I want to do it justice, whilst staying on a budget. Timely read for me at least. I think the wall is great! Listen & Learn: What Does Your Home Have To Teach You? |

For years now, whenever I have something to donate. I toss them in the back of my car or trunk so that when I'm running errands (eventually the planets will all align and I will remember and/or be in the right neighborhood) to unload these all at once. I also do apply this for dry cleaning and any returns that I have to make (that do not require immediate attention). It's amazing how much stuff I can get rid of and I don't have to make several trips doing it. 15 Crazy Ideas to Make Your Life Saner |

Living this now..Due to a cross country job relocation..and a very limited amount of time to scan an area for an apartment, tends to make for hasty decisions one has to live with now that it's summertime and no a/c, lugging laundry up and down fifteen flights, and no garbage disposal! Our apartment has lovely pre war bones and a partial lake view a huge plus.. but not so sure I will be singing it's praises when the lease comes up again. Ugh. Just moved across country.. and then found our sofa would not fit in the elev nor the up the stairs (we are on the 15th floor) my husband said this happened to him before in an old apt in Chicago and that the elev ceiling was taken off and then his sofa was literally placed on top? Well, this was no longer an option for us now (rules and regulations etc.) Our only option would have been to spend $500 for the elevator company to actually do this for us.. so since our sofa was not really worth it we decided to opt for getting another sofa.. not exactly happy about having the additional expense just glad the old sofa was 3 years old and not brand new. Now, I'm trying to find the "formula" of how to measure the elevator clearance etc. Isn't there some sort of formula I could plug into Excel to do this??? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! Last Minute Moving Stress: The _____ Won't Fit! |

I'm facing a similar issue. We too have a very wide, long entry way. Since we now have our very large TV wall mounted, I also have an heavy, long-short, TV stand I need to figure out how to use.. I want to create a mud porch typ area for our shoes. I'm going to put this against one side of the wall and then I'll top that with a long cushion and install hooks above for jackets etc. Thus, creating a "bench" for pulling off those shoes that can be stowed where videos used to be. In my mind, this works, however, we'll see if it translates. Another option for you maybe to forgo the mirrored doors and use the closet itself for a cubby for that stuff. Maybe create shelving inside with hooks. I'd also make sure the opposite side of the wall had something there to balance the closet-shelf combo..either book shelves? or a longer credenza.. depends on how much space you have. If you opt for no other furniture, artwork or a a long mirror can fill up that space you don't use if you go the closet-cubby route. Shoe Storage/Counter Combo for Entryway? Good Questions |

I like the idea of doing something each day. I just tackled my closet, bookshelves in the library area of our house in the past 2 days. Each task took me about an hour. I have been putting off both of these tasks now for months! Once I turn on some music and dived in.. it was a snap and I was reminded (as per usual) that if I just show up.. the task is less daunting than I always think it's gonna be.. so I'm now onto both my desk (drawers and filing cabinet) and also my "in box".. yes I have tens of thousands of emails to rid myself of!! I've decided that each day I will tackle something until I've gone through each room. I'm moving in the next 6 months and I want to make sure this is done before hand so I can de clutter & have a couple garage sales and make all the donations before I move! Will certainly help when I'm in a crunch and I will not have to do as much when I'm packing which will equal less stress all around! How To Clean Your House in 20 Minutes a Day for 30 Days |

washing the chicken, to me always seemed like I was in effect, doing the opposite of what I wanted to achieve.. going down a rabbit hole of essentially contaminating all those surfaces etc and that just always seemed so silly! (think, wearing disposable gloves that you take off and leave one hand exposed, then having to re wash that hand...less handling the better. hominy, gr onion and chicken stock soup.. works for me in a pinch. I usually just do a quick saute in pot of gr onions and garlic and whatever savory herbs like thyme rosemary etc. season to taste or leave out the gr onions as well.. and then just add canned hominy with stock. You can add left over chicken as well. Quick Soups: 5 Recipes Ready in a Hurry |

I just made a couple pots o vegetable soup.. one with beef stock and the other with chicken stock... but always like to use V8 spicy vegetable added for that extra kick.. I cube tofu and either add it fresh as is or sometimes, I like to pan sear it first with olive oil and garlic and then toss it into the soup for added protein and to make it diverse on the 2nd day or so. I tend to use a lot of veggies so I thin it out by just adding more V8 or stock as soup runs out... makes extra for freezing after your all souped out.
