Wow, the comments thread is so very interesting. If nothing else, this is inspiring me to try to lower our food budget, and be very grateful. Who in this day and age can't use some belt tightening literally and figuratively? Then it will free up some cash for helping others and perhaps getting us some treats?--from thrift stores and yard sales of course :-) Eating on $31 a Week: The Hunger Action Month Challenge The Chicago Tribune |

Thanks everyone, these are all great ideas, will have to prepare. I have a husband and 2 babies, and after seeing what just happened to Japan, I realized we don't nearly have enough prepared. We have go bags with power bars and change of clothes for each adult, but nothing for the babies. Will need to update the contents, and keep stuff in the car as well. I also like the idea of a Doomsday documents probably sent to both sets of parents just in case.....Does anyone know where I can get helmets for babies? Very nice, all of them! Will do this in the future. We have a small basement, but we use it as a full gym space, full of commercial gym quality equipment. We can just use P90X type workouts, and convert the basement into a small guestroom/tv room. 4 Basement Bedroom Beauties |

I would put the dining table near the wall close to the kitchen sink, so if you want to have a buffet meal, you can put dishes on the counter and serve from there. Then, I'd hang the tv on the opposite wall on the right and put the L-shaped sectional in the middle of the room, visually dividing the dining area and the living room area. This way, folks working in the kitchen can watch tv, and the family can watch tv while eating also :-) Then, the sofa isn't too far from the t.v. How To Set Up Living Area In Oddly Shaped Room? We love, love, love our 2 Canon Elph cameras. We always have one in the bag and one within easy reach at home and we always catch the kids' precious moments. I make videos and photos from the same camera. What Camera To Buy? 4 Suggested Cameras for Parents |

I make Smilebox slideshows and scrapbooks of special events such as births, grandparents' visits, vacations, Halloween & Holiday parties. I send these to the grandparents and special friends. Then, I bought Sony Digital Frames for each of the grandparents and our house, hopefully one for each of our offices also, and will stick USBs in each of those and update as needed. Love it! We have a few art pieces up in the house but I hate having tons of frames hanging around, so this works for us. Help with Thousands of Photos! Good Questions |
