This is dinner at least once a week in our home. I particularly like to top if with braised kale and the Chipotle-Orange Black Bean recipe from Whole Foods' website.

Good, clean eating!

I like how you're categorizing style type more often now. It helps a design schizophrenic like me narrow down my personal style. Good job, AT.

It's hard to see the names of each board, since they all start with "Apartment Therapy" but cut off before the title is complete. Like: "Apartment Therapy Di..." "Apartment Therapy Ki..."

See what I mean?

I'm a midwife (yeah, duh... the name) and am constantly making freezer-ready food for expecting families. Favorite options are calzones (good recipe in Vegan Planet,) chili, lentil soup, and hearty sauces that can be quickly combined with pasta. Freezing some pre-cooked grains (rice, bulger, quinoa) is also a plus. Any stewy/soupy meals get frozen in zip bags laid flat, and I keep them stacked for space. I usually keep quick bread, cut in half, and muffins in freezer bags. Easy grab-n-go breakfast.

If you're breastfeeding remember to pack some calcium in... favorite sources are greens and tofu. Best wishes!

There's a recipe on here for Espresso Chili that uses both chipotle powder and regular chili powder. It's fantastic!

For a veg/vegan date night dinner-- the chickpea picatta recipe from Post Punk Kitchen is awesome. (http://www.theppk.com/2010/09/chickpea-picatta/)

Made this bread last night. I honestly didn't think it was rising at all during the process, but the end result is perfect. Great texture, crust, and flavors. Thanks!

Food poisoning is a total bummer. The lining of the gut needs to heal, so bland foods are best. It is also essential to avoid dairy for 72 hrs after the last "episode" of sickness because the damaged lining can't process it.

BRAT diet is good. You need some electrolytes too. There are online recipes for DIY gatorade or pedialyte for those who would rather avoid all the HFCS and coloring.

Feel better!

My boyfriend and I have been vegan for about two years. He went vegan a few months after me, and it's certainly been easier to have solidarity. We're fortunate to live in a city (Baltimore) that has lots of vegan grocery and dining options. We cook A LOT and really enjoy the culinary challenge of eating vegan.

My best recommendations for new vegans are:
Don't feel guilty if you slip up occasionally.

Don't compromise your values for others, (ie-- don't eat animal products at someone else's home because you think it'd make them "feel bad" if you didn't.)

Tell people AHEAD of time that you're vegan if going to their home as a guest.

If you feel yourself losing a grip and want to re-dedicate yourself to veganism, read Skinny Bitch. It deserves its criticisms, but it makes clear, concise arguments for vegan living.

Well, boo. I'm a pretty experienced baker, and these were a total flop for me. In the interest of honesty: I attempted to veganize these with soy milk instead of the dairy. That usually works fine, but these failed hard. I made them T'giving morning and couldn't even serve them-- they were that bad.

Warning, warning: do not attempt to make vegan. Epic fail.

Yep to the hospital thing... I've had a patient pull up Skype on her laptop and stream the birth of her baby to her military husband in the Middle East. Pretty cool.

Made a batch of espresso black bean chili for a potluck.

Also playing with my new favorite appliance-- Cuisinart countertop brick oven! Baked a crustless pumpkin pie, and hoping to make bread later.

Also bought a Breville juicer and have been pulverizing a lot of produce.

I dilute my white wine all. the. time.

Typically I use seltzer water to add some pizazz and to (don't judge!) keep myself from drinking too much, too fast.

We have a casement window in the new kitchen. Love it! The only problem is: I can't reach the latch for the lock due to the added distance of reaching over the counters. I've used various cooking utensils to remedy my reach.

We just put chocolatey brown cork floating floor in our kitchen. We're loving them! Warm on the feet, easy to clean. The only thing is they kind of show dust a lot... footprints, paw prints, dirt that's dragged in from outside.
