I've got dried lemongrass instead of fresh--how much should I use?

Made this last night with roommates and loved it - I'd definitely go with the smaller baking dish, and don't use plain brown rice, either - I used a brown/wild rice mix from Trader Joe's that also had wheat berries in it, which gave it a really nice, nutty/crunchy texture (good for those who are still a little icky about mushroom mouthfeel).

I also added chopped spinach and a layer of soft goat cheese crumbled along with the Parmesan. I wouldn't make it without those two extra ingredients, they complemented perfectly. You could also use more mushrooms if you like. Overall, this was really simple and delicious - paired with a crusty garlic bread and haricots verts.

How about punctuation soup? carrot asterisks, perhaps a celery apostrophe or two? peas for ellipses? delicious AND educational! Fun for the whole family!

A friend of mine's parents used to throw an Anti Post-Holiday Depression Party every winter in mid-January. I think I'd like to start that tradition for my friends and family - good food, wine, and company as the perfect antidote to short days, little sun, and cold (or, if you live in KY, manic and frenzied) weather.

I think the best solution to the time-consuming aspect of steel-cut oats is to make them in a thermos of boiling water before you go to bed -- by the time you wake up, they're just about perfect, and it's a lot less mess than dealing with goop in a pot.

Love the dining room hue - I'm looking for something similar for my own dining room; care to share?

Beautiful - a hint of savory and the perfect amount of sweet. The pumpkin puree gives the perfect amount of moisture to the rest of the cake. I'll definitely make this one again. Forbidden Fruit's coffee icing would be a wonderful addition; I'll try that next time.

Word, Kinko's it is. But onto more important matters, like that bed frame and the bedding on it.

Where oh Where did you find that little orange storage box with the branches on it? I am in love with your place.

I love this. Once I told the cashier at Walgreen's to save the plastic, and she threw the bag away. What is this world coming to?
This website has the coolest bag tutorial I've ever seen. It's animated, and really really easy to follow.

Oh, this sounds wonderful. I was thinking about a pumpkin creme brulee with grand marnier to brighten it up a little. Any thoughts on how to keep the consistency right when brulee-ing with liquor?

The bathroom and bedroom are my favorites - I love the tile backsplash, and the blue is wonderfully serene - I'm glad it's only on the one wall. It looks great with those sheets.

Well, I'm pretty much in love with the kitchen area. It's fun and bright, but at the same time elegant. The green is darling with the b&w floors and the black chairs as well. I'm not crazy about any of the other rooms, though - I love the orange accent wall next to the bedspread, but I was pretty horrified to learn that the two walls not shown in the bedroom are two different, equally bright colors. It's vivid and bright, that's for sure, but there's nowhere for the eye to rest. I am reminded of why I hate clowns. I think the scheme in the office could be nice if the color was toned down a bit, or the artwork on the wall wasn't jockeying for position among the colorful - Personally, I couldn't think in a room that loud. I think I love the kitchen so much because it's the only room whose color scheme promotes the purpose of the room.

Nice, but it's mostly the same color scheme used as an accent - I'd like to see a little more variation.

Yeah, does anyone know what that 'spongy material' is, exactly? Nails go in, but they wiggle right out, and screws don't screw in because the material isn't sturdy enough to hold the spiral shape. ANy thoughts on this? I can't really hang shelves or even towel hooks because of this problem.
