Not sure why, but the idea of painting a pinstripe pattern on the wall jumped out at me as the right thing to do for that space. I think it's because if you painted the lines parallel to the centerline of the nook, then the slope of the primary roofline would cut off the pinstripes in very interesting ways. it would look kind of like the sleeve of a paul smith suit had been turned back to reveal a delightful lining.
