Last year I decorated a beautiful bunch of branches trimmed from my Sycamore (lovely bark) for Christmas; then took the ornaments off for a New Year's Eve party. Guests were invited to write their wishes on Chinese joss paper and add them to the branches. We burned them all in a bonfire just after midnight! A memorable celebration.

I was anticipating something more bold, this is practically the same settee in negative. Color, scale, pattern, that's what makes good design. Overall, yawn. Sorry.

Okay, I have a question about the statement in the article, "Nanotex it." That sounds like you can apply it to regular fabrics, but I thought it was IN the fibers so it would involve reupholstering the piece. More info please!

I'm intrigued by the description of the courtyard building and wish there was some of their outdoor space to explore as well.

Why tease us with descriptions of the Dr Pitt, seventies room sets, chevrons, chrome, etc an then show us the same ol' stuff? I can't go to the High Point show to see this gorgeous furniture and it isn't displayed in these well decorated rooms on their website. Bummer...

KayinKCMO: I know it was unintentional but you gave me a great belly laugh: you meant pothos, but it's much better considering the process of killing a neighbor's pathos!

okay, I'm guessing a taxidermy mole. and while I'm against the whole living-with-a-carcass concept, I have to say that's the most original thing I've ever seen!!

Hi AT editors and readers, does anyone have practical and stylish solutions for managing long cords that have to reach from a center arrangement to the outlets in an open room plan? I don't have small children or chewy-bitey pets but it's something I am struggling with and have had little success.

I love the layout but I have too much original artwork to spare any wall space.

That being said, please source the gorgeous plates and trays in the 4BP pic!

This space is so fascinating- I can't believe I missed it the first time around last spring. These guys clearly have a great thing going on.

Questions for you AT editors: why do you torture us with descriptions of the absinthe bar and Japanese tea room, and neglect to photograph them? I'm outraged! (But only in a
sort of grateful and jealous way.)

Thanks for the amazing tour!

Great colors; great textures, excellent details! Not a fan of her choices in upholstered furniture though, and it's turning me off of the overall design because they constitute the anchor pieces in every room.

As an art student in the '90s I found a beautifully maintained Philco like the avocado one pictured; it was white, with turquoise plastic and pink spun aluminum trim throughout the interior! I wanted it so much but the timing was not good in my little duplex, but I think about it frequently...

Color in the Kitchen: Lively Refrigerators

I think it's almost unanimous- your kitchen is super cute the way it is. A couple of the simplest solutions might be defining the space with a unified wall color behind the cabinets (which I wouldn't change) and on the neighboring wall AND in your floor treatment. Recommending a color is difficult without a look at the personality of the rest of your loft though. I love the idea of a great big island to make a statement in the space. It's hard to tell from your post just how much you want to accomplish, total reno or budget update. Have fun!

Wow, the Hotel Particulier Montmartre is dreamy and fantastic. The lighting, both in the photo and the room itself, really enhances the secondary and tertiary colors.
