So lovely. Great job...and I like the simple yet stylish and thoughtful decor. Not over-done with little chatkis like you see in so many period inspired homes. Whitney's Bungalow in West Hollywood House Call |

I have been both an upstairs and downstairs neighbor. I cannot believe someone would say "just live your life" without any regard to your neighbors. I think this attitude really says a lot about society. Are we at a place where we just don't give a damn about others? What To Do When You Are the Noisy Upstairs Neighbor? Good Questions |

although this home is lovely, i am disappointed that AT seems to be featuring more homes on larger scales. i regarding this site as a great resource for smaller homes and apartments, but now it seems like it has gravitated toward homes that are above most people's budgets. seems like the "apartment" part of "apartment therapy" has gone missing? it is not a good idea to get on the bad side of your neighbor above. you are in a vulnerable position. when i moved in, i introduced myself and dropped off some chocolates as a gift. and although i do hear her walking about, i feel it may have been worse had i not taken that extra step. and for the people below me, i always take my shoes off when i come home and walk lightly. no pounding from below yet, knock....um...wood. When I have contractors working on site, I leave a cooler with water and soft drinks available. If I am home I will offer to buy lunch. I always offer an ice cold drink to delivery workers and if the movers/installers are extra careful, I will usually tip between $10-$20. IMO, tipping wait staff has become so outlandish. It's when they start to expect tips I get upset. Tipping was established as a reward for exceptional service! Who and How Much Do You Tip for Home Services? |

I live near a college campus, so I can say without question that I woudn't rent in a building that allowed college students to rent. Also, with my allergies, I cannot live in a building that allows pets. I Would Never Rent An Apartment That: Reader Survey |

We are so consumed by a chair being "real". I was just looking in a Room and Board catalogue and noticed they have a chair that looks like the Barcelona, but at half the price. So how can these authentic pieces be that much more expensive based? On some level you have to think that the real one is over-priced if someone else can sell it for that much cheaper. Like many of the large mcmansions of the 80's-90's, large clunky furniture went out of style. As people downsize and learn to live with less, creating a smaller carbon footprint is so important. Granted, some of these pieces are not eco-friendly. But the idea of recycling old furniture and buying used is so appealing to me. Not many people will buy a used over-stuffed sofa. But there is a huge demand for a used mcm furniture. I like that about mcm. Classic American Style: Mid-Century Modern American Style |

I really love this home. Tastefully done. However, I don't really care for pets on kitchen countertops or any counter for that matter. Kind of grosses me out. But that's just me. Roy & Dana's Greenbelt Home House Tour |

One of the best ways to see the Greek isles is by sailboat. If you have a chance, I do highly recommend a sailing voyage. The smaller, lesser known islands are especially quaint and memorable. i agree, this is great for parties because everyone migrates towards the kitchen in the end. the stools in photos 2 and 4, while minimal and streamlined, are really not that comfortable in my opinion. even having a small back to the stool can make all the difference in the world. i would go with one that has a back to it. I have a few pieces of jewerly and several watches worth monetary value that are easy to grab in a rush. Other than that there is nothing I have that I couldn't live without. This all from downsizing from a house, to larger condo, then finally to the small condo I live in now. At this point, I don't care for "things" much. The One Thing I Just Can't Live Without |
