Looks good. Just needs to be positioned a fraction higher and maybe push the lamp to the right of the table, not dead center.

What about the white subway tile/carrara marble look? Yes, it's nice, and classic, but having seen it a thousand times, I'm just so over it!

I don't just love the sink, I love the deep windows, high ceilings and even the tile looks pretty cool.

Why black? There are so many beautiful shades out there. Look at Farrow and Ball for inspirational traditional colors and maybe think about painting the first floor window and pannelling to match.
Please ditch those shutters, they're so pointless, and clear the front entrance/steps of all those distracting bits and pieces.
I agree stainless steel fixtures are preferable to gold and brass. Don't be afraid of mixing traditional with contemporary like the Europeans do.

Breathtaking! The most inspiring home I've seen on AT. What a pleasure to see an old house decorated with such sensitivity.

Elegant though this style is, I think I've just been convinced that pale shaker cabinets, stainless steel appliances and carrera marble has become a cliche.

Fabulous room btw, but I'm thinking sconces would be slightly weirdly placed and you shouldn't bother with them. Better a table lamp on that chest to the left with a piece of art above it or consider hidden uplighting or a standard lamp. If you do go with sconces, then I like farmhousemoderne's suggestions for something boxy and asymmetrical. The look should be sharp, modern or mid century.

I loved the before with its splash of color to lift the room. In contrast the after just looks insipid to me.

If you really want to salvage this, leave one accent wall in this color and paint the rest white.

The bones of this space are fabulous, just love that fireplace, but what's with the randomly placed plants, pictures, seating arrangements and that shelf behind the sofa?
A good start would be to unify the colors. For starters why not paint the whole thing white, including those pointless blue outlines round the doors, live with it for a while and take it from there. This would also help give center stage to that shocking pink pop chair. Then think about a replacement for that sofa, coffee table and rug.

I'm with the preservation crew on this one, but can I throw an idea out there? What about stripping/sanding off the varnish for a natural, lighter, non shine finish? I don't know if I've ever seen it done but have been thinking about it for similiar features at home as I think it would tone down the yellow of the wood.

My home has similiar wood accents to yours and I opted for cool shades to offset the yellow tones of the wood. I love the icy pale blue and putty gray I chose--a vast improvement on the clashing salmon pink and yellow ochre they were painted when I moved in.

Can I also suggest painting the color only as far as the picture rail and leaving everything above white.
