Brilliant! I wonder if it would be safe to use this in gap between counter and oven too. I'll have to check into whether that area might get too hot when oven/range are in use. That gap drives me nuts!

The goal to reduce salt is based on faulty and outdated science: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/03/opinion/sunday/we-only-think-we-know-the-truth-about-salt.html. Let me have my salty, fatty cheese!

$50!? They'd make a cute stocking stuffer if they were $5, but I certainly wouldn't spend more than that on such an unnecessary frivolity.

What an odd reference to celiac's disease... There are plenty of gluten-free bread—and toast—options out there.

I have a similar problem and have considered buying pre-made wooden fence pieces and somehow attaching them to the skeleton of the chain link fence. I think this would be more affordable because you wouldn't have to dig post holes, pour cement, etc., but I have no idea if it could actually be done securely.

I don't think there is anything trite and tiresome about this creative project. In fact, it could inspire all sorts of similarly made art. Spray-paint your junk, hang it in a frame-->art! (No sarcasm intended. :)) Love the color combo of this too.

Definitely make! It's so customizable, I just use whatever happens to be in my pantry. My favorite: http://www.tamingthetart.com/2011/spiced-olive-oil-granola/

Canned salmon has become a staple in my household. I find that the brand makes a huge difference in taste. Our favorite is Whole Foods brand Red Sockeye Salmon (with bones and skin--they are totally edible and contain lots of calcium!). I try not to shop at Whole Foods anymore, but it's the one thing I will go there specifically to buy.

I've been in the market for a compost bucket, but I just can justify spending so much money. They cost more than my actual compost bin!

Just wanted to thank @b77 for raising this very important point!
"Staying away and not supporting produce with pesticides is what we should be doing not thinking its ok with all these list of low pesticide choices that are being published by so called environmental groups/ What about the run off into the water supply, the air, the farm workers and the people that live near these sprayed areas. To cavalierly dismiss the real and potential hazards of pesticides exposures using incomplete information does not bode well for either public or occupational health."

Before taking offense to the term "lactard," consider familiarizing yourself with the etymology of the suffix -ard. There are many words that contain this suffix besides "retard," and it seems perfectly appropriate to apply it in this sense. http://www.randomhouse.com/wotd/index.pperl?date=19970107

Unless you have a commercial salad spinner, the bowl is too small for soaking any real quantity of greens. You need enough space for the greens to float freely so that any debris sinks to the bottom and stays there when you pull the greens out.

I totally agree with vanessa.vichitvadakan about silicone tips. I have yet to find something that they are good at gripping. I mean, think about it, the idea is that nothing will stick to silicone, so that means anything you try to pick up with them you will likely drop. Ugh. Sorry, lots of frustration with those things.
