Tools, by nature, serve a specific function. They have already been "designed" - to be the best tool for the job. I have never understood the urge to make tools look like something else. Who cares what color their screwdriver is? Designer DIY Tools Roundup | Apartment Therapy New York |

Not trying to be snarky, but if you wanted something modern why did you buy an old couch? Also, how does painting it black give it a "brighter feel"? Trying to turn old furniture into "modern" furniture usually just ends up looking like neither. Should I Paint the Trim On My Sofa? Good Questions | Apartment Therapy Los Angeles |

Thank you, Ms. Pea. I never realized coats and purses were considered so filthy. It would never occur to me. Plus, it's the outside of a coat touching the outside of the bedspread. Presumably people are not taking their gross purses and coats and tucking them in between your sheets, nestled up to your pillow. When I entertain, the last thing I think about is weather or not someone's purse is besmirching my sterile bed. Entertaining: Without A Coat Closet | Apartment Therapy Los Angeles |

I live in Minnesota, where coats are heavy. I would worry that it would be too much weight for a shower curtain. Those rods are not designed to hold much weight, especially across such a wide span. I can just imagine the whole thing crashing down into the tub. And the cat making a lovely bed out of the mess. Entertaining: Without A Coat Closet | Apartment Therapy Los Angeles |

jumpyfroggy -I believe the tags on the first and third photos are switched; the "bowl" is glazed - it's a coaster to put the bottle in so as not to drip on the table. The first photo, the strange hollow pitcher thing, is the decanter. Apartment Therapy New York | 5 Ways to Dress Up your Wine |

We tried the egg-mushroom-polenta last week. While it tasted very good, I felt it needed something of a different texture. Everything in it is so mushy. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | Have You Tried Any of the Quick Weeknight Meals Recipes? Quick Weeknight Meals Recipe Contest 2009 |

We have used the Ikea rails for their sliding fabric panels (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30079370) to hang a large poster in our living room. For such a large map you'd need several rails on the top and bottom, but the top pieces have holes you can run wire through instead of attaching them to the Ikea rails. It's an inexpensive way to get the schoolhouse look without dealing with a dowel. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Ideas for Hanging or Framing a Very Large Map? Good Questions |
