Bakfietsen (cargo bikes) and mamafietsen (mother bikes) are quite popular here in Belgium, and even more so in the Netherlands.

A mamafiets is a bike with a low instep (to make it easy for mom to get on and off), plus front and rear child carriers. You'll often see a little windscreen on the front to stop the wind from hitting the child in front.

Biking is simply another (normal) form of transportation here.

I was so excited to see the new (US) catalog online, then thoroughly disappointed when I realized that all the 'new' stuff has been in the stores here (Belgium) for months.

MonsterMash: here in Belgium, things like TVs and stereo systems have proper 'off' (not standby) buttons - I wonder why manufacturers don't build these in for products they sell in North America?

We have a two-story, two-bedroom apartment of about 1300sq ft, and we use less than 175kwh/month - I can't even imagine what we'd have to switch on to be using 45kwh/day.
