I think the seperate but together idea is great! And I like the colors. so I am not all negative but: I normally don't post, but I couldn't even maintain my interest in the house tour because of how it was shot. I have noticed recently that a lot of the house tours are not giving a broad perspective of the space, but this one was so focused on the details. I don't even know if I liked what I was seeing! I was so frustrated that couldn't see it! or see it in context, atleast. :(

I hardly ever comment on house tours, but I think this is amazing, like everyone else seems to. It has really inspired me because I would love a modern aesthetic in a historic setting, and living in the UK its easy to find a historic setting, but hard to get ideas of how to creatively streamline the space.
And I would like to echo calls for a floor plan. Its great to see a floor plan in the slide show (and in cases like this where recent and professional work was done, a floor plan must exist). It might help people understand how much square footage was taken up by built in units (for example).
Another thing that I wish AT would encourage for these slide shows, is to show rooms finally done and in use. Because I doubt we would be in as much awe of the kitchen counter space in use (with the toaster, blender, cutting board out) but might appreciate even more the clever recess for shampoo in the shower. I must disagree with those who wish the old fixtures were retained in the bathroom--it so hard to clean around that kind of tub. And when you have cats...
And finally, Nellie might be happy in the smaller bedroom, but in the long run, if its not possible to fit a double bed in her room, future residents will probably wish to relocate the bedroom into living room and in that case the fantastic built in storage could be a liability. Although, I think its important that renovations be aimed at how you want to live now, and a floor plan might show there is ample room to squeeze a double bed in there...

Does anyone know or have an opinion on the difference (if there is one) between the Royal Stafford Zeisel and the one at Crate and Barrel? I have only ever seen the C and B one in person, but I am living abroad and think maybe going with Royal Stafford is better, and might avoid some of the earthenware pitfalls if it is made of a different material.

Also any pasta bowls that would match?

sorry to not be commenting on IKEA.
