My cousin swears by placing any water-exposed electronics on a dark-colored car hood parked in the sun. So far its also worked w/ both my mom's and uncle's phones. Good to know about the rice option though, in case the day is overcast! Passing this along. How To Dry Out (and Hopefully Save) Wet Electronics Home Hacks | Apartment Therapy Unplggd |

warponey -- yes, it is a challenge. watch an episode & you'll understand. Plus, its funny and gratifyingly honest (makeovers are done on an often EXTREME budget as the show will only match the amount the family makes at their garage sale, so the results are often not that chic). Ditto the previous comments. I am a DIY fanatic and was surprised at how little DIY was in this mag (just started subscribing last year). So, no renewal for me... guess I'll just stick to my blogs. Too bad. Sounds like I missed the good years of ReadyMade altogether. :( Check Out ReadyMade's Redesign | Apartment Therapy Los Angeles |

Weird. And the heads remind me of the large (& creepy) brass animal-head belt buckles my grandma used to wear when I was young. They had red marble eyes that were eye level to mine and seemed to stare at me when she would pull me in for one of her many overly tight hugs... *shudder* Andras Rigler Puts A New Twist On Trim | Apartment Therapy Chicago |

Hmm. I answered the poll according to how I make my bed (vertically), but now after reading these comments, was I supposed to vote accding to how I sleep?? Because that is horizontally. Ah, well... Pillow Survey: Vertical or Horizontal? | Apartment Therapy Chicago |

I'm lucky enough to have a bedroom window that faces the woods surrounding my apt building. So since there are no annoying outside lights to bother me, I leave my blinds open at bedtime so I can get a huge dose of the morning sun to help get my night-owl-self out of bed at a reasonable hour. I am extremely absent-minded and have a relatively hectic schedule, so the landing strip concept is the only way I am able to reliably locate my keys, wallet/purse and sunglasses on a daily basis. Apartment Therapy Chicago | The Fall Cure: The Landing Strip Week 3 - Tips Tricks |

Oh, and @alice groznyi -- This is a piece of art. Its one-time-use-only is the artistic statement. Granted its a bit eye-roll inducing, but its certainly not meant to be a practical source for lighting your home. Apartment Therapy New York | Blood Powered Lamp by Mike Thompson |

Huh. I always thought that a black light was necessary to see the glow produced by luminol. But after reading several online articles it appears that it will produce a visible glow for a short while, and then can still be seen w/ a black light.
