When I was engaged 24 years ago, I drove a 90 year old woman home from church one night. We started talking about weddings. Her husband to be had built them a 1 room home with an outhouse, made them a bed, nailed a board to the wall as a kitchen table, made 2 stools and she had "borrowed" a washcloth/towel from her mother-in-law to use until she could afford one of her own. I wish I had recorded or written down the rest of the conversation, because it was humbling and enlightening on just how much we all have now.

For me, my energy slumps were related to eating wheat/gluten. Once I cut that out, I didn't feel exhausted/sleepy all the time.

Whatever that is in front of the windows in the living room, I want one. Is it a backless sofa?

I might put the bike on the wall, ask to paint and put very skinny/shallow shelves above the handrail, something like http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20126065/ which is only 3 1/2 inches deep.

Okay, the last one has me worried/confused. How do you get the baby up to the top? Especially when he or she is asleep? My youngest climbed out of his crib for the first time at just over 6 months, so don't underestimate the baby's climbing skills. I don't think this arrangement will be practical for long.

PS: I'm picturing that the top bunk is for the youngest child, is that incorrect?

I like it. I think it looks good, but I am not a fan of sitting random things around like the spools of thread. I think a nice, useful pretty tray would look better there.

One of the best books ever for making your home work around your habits is called "The House That Cleans Itself" I'm not sure who the author is, but you can google it. It really makes you think about how you live and how you can keep your house cleaner by rearranging it and rethinking it.

Pretty, but doesn't look very comfy.
