Sunny side over thinly sliced grilled zucchini all on top of hearty buttered wheat bread. What's Your Favorite Way to Eat an Egg? |

After eating pasture raised eggs from the same farm we get our meat, I just can't fathom going back to conventional. I would rather not eat eggs than do that. The taste and texture is just so superior I would gladly pay $6-$7 and then just not eat as many. I have 3 young children and we could easily go through a dozen eggs in 3-4 days but since we only get 2 dozen a month, we are more mindful of when and how we are eating them. If I know I will be doing some baking then I will just buy something that I can live with from the store but for eating alone I will just absorb the cost. $6.00 For a Dozen Eggs: Are You Willing To Pay More For Pasture-Raised Eggs? |

I'm due in a few weeks and I would love cut up fruit, the taco box sounds so good too. Granola bars, lactation cookies, cheese, crackers, meat platter. Pasta salad with veggies also sounds good. Basically stuff with lots of calories that I can eat with one hand. Help Me Make a Fresh Summer Meal for a Family with a New Baby Good Questions |

It depends on where you live. I lived just fine in Southern California near the beach without AC for most of my life. Now in the Midwest and East Coast I have done it and it was purely miserable. Even then we could survive without it as youngish and healthy people. For everyone else once it reaches certain temps it's actually dangerous. I am pregnant and have two young children. For us it's beyond an comfort issue. It's a serious health concern. For my 90 year old grandmother, hers went out for a few days and I actually had the HVAC guy go out there free of charge on short notice and fix it immediately without money upfront because he knew how serious it is for someone of her age to live without AC. Let's not romanticize the good ol days or pretend that living in one area is the same as everywhere else in the country. On, Off or In Between? Air Conditioning |

Our blender broke a couple years ago and we needed something in a pinch. We are also short on storage and counter space so we picked up a Cuisinart Immersion Blender the next day and we decided we never needed a blender again. I don't even miss it and it is so easy to clean. We use it almost every day to make smoothies, baby food, soups, coffee drinks etc. for a family of 5. We got a mini food processor for our wedding 8 years ago and I could probably count on one hand the amount of times we have used it and we cook from scratch A LOT. The immersion blender can do pretty much everything adequately enough and takes up less space. Should I Buy a Food Processor or an Immersion Blender?Product & Shopping Questions |

I'm a reformer and luckily so is the husband. His family (mainly one very vocal sibling) is such a traditionalist it boggles my mind. She threw a tantrum when her mother dared to replace the standard side of creamed corn. It's CANNED! I couldn't believe she would rather someone dump some cans in a bowl and stick it in the microwave than try something new. Holiday Meals: Are You a Traditionalist or a Reformer? |

Does this apply to vintage Pyrex? I was under the impression that the older stuff could go from freezer to oven. I only have vintage Pyrex plates. This would save me so much time! I usually freeze just the dough but I would love to make the whole thing when I have a chance. For Convenience & A Better Crust: Freeze Unbaked Pies |

Legos DO go with everything. We just had a Lego Rainbow party for my son's 5th last week. It was a hit. I love the pirate idea too. Best Kids Parties: Pirates & LEGOS My Party: Dane (Atascadero, CA) |

I'm curious why the comments about painted over brick and white cabinets? I ask because our kitchen is very similar to the before and we are looking to paint the brick and cabinets white. These older type of cabinets may be wood fronts but the rest are cheap laminate and simply do not look nice after a while. I hate the brick...hate it. I don't understand why at some point in the 50's someone decided exposed z brick in the kitchen was a good idea. Stuff sticks to it and it has YEARS of grime that is very difficult to get off. I make a killer vegan lasagna with zuchinni as the "pasta" portion and raw cashew "cheese". Sooo amazingly delicious and filling. My hubby keeps asking for it again and he is not vegetarian or vegan. Our Readers' Favorite Vegetarian Dinner Party Dishes Reader Intelligence Report |

Yes to the fresh foods. All I wanted in the world the first month or two with both of my children was fresh fruit and veggies and something to drink. Things that are filling and easy to eat with one hand. I literally drop them off on the doorstop when I bring meals. I text them a few minutes later to say I left a little something on the porch. Oh gosh this is timely. I'm going through this now. I also used a lot of these tips when I was pregnant and so ill I could not function. My 3 year old watched a lot of PBS for the first trimester and mommy did a lot of "show me your best dance" while I tried not to die on the couch. A roll of butcher paper that you can roll out next to the couch and a pile of crayons and pencils is also pretty handy. 5 Survival Tips for Being Sick at Home With Kids |

Well homemade obviously tastes much better but there are things that I value even more. The nutritional value of homemade vs. boxed is huge and they are not comparable serving sizes. One box makes 2 servings realistically. However a full box of pasta with homemade sauce is enough for my family of 4 with leftovers for lunch the next day. Make or Buy? Macaroni and Cheese |

Yes, having lived in Buffalo, NY and now Chicago, the butter lamb tradition is very rich. I grew up in So. Cal so when I first encountered it in college I thought it was pretty weird but now I have come over to the dark side. Butter Lamb for Easter: Traditional or Wacky? |

I saw this the other day too. Costco has been doing this for years and we love it. I always buy meat in bulk though and then I separate it into one meal's worth in freezer bags. I can get 3 meals (for a family of 4) out of one large package from Costco so then I just pull one bag out in the morning for that evening's dinner. We had one when our 4 year old was an infant and I loved it. My husband REFUSED to try it and was repulsed. It was an ongoing comical battle. It went mysteriously missing in our last move. I'll be purchasing a new one for our 2nd child. NoseFrida The Snot Sucker |

Yeah most go straight into the Goodwill bag. This was the first year (he's 4) that we didn't hide them and had to have a talk about it. We opened them and called everyone and thanked them. Then we had a talk about what is age appropriate and why it's important to be happy with less. He mostly got it and he was totally over it in about 5 min.
