Only because they double as fort pillows, cozy lay-accross-them-and-read pillows, and pile-them-up-and-jump-in-them pillows. So, yes, we have decorative pillows in our kids' room, but they are not precious. Extra Pillows in Kids' Rooms: Decorative or Dustcatchers? |

Moving is one of the only things that is just as bad as you think it is going to be. Knowing that, I just try to make the best of it and get through it. The sooner it is over, the sooner we can start making a new home, and that is the best part for me. You deserve to nap though! The Emotional Roller Coaster of a New Home |

I have two girls ages 5 and 2 1/2. They have always shared a room and it works just fine. Even when baby woke in the middle of the night, it didn't bother her older sister. She slept through the crying and I always picked up the baby fairly quickly. I can only think of a couple of times they have woken each other up, but they always went back to sleep quickly. Now that they are older, it takes longer for them to actually go to sleep at bedtime because they are talking and singing to each other. I think that is sweet though. =) My advice is to try it and see how it works out. Every child is different. Do Shared Toddler/Baby Rooms Work? Good Questions |

Oh My. I had so many. I always bought them myself out of my allowance and birthday money. I can only remember the name of the first one and it was Juliana. She had "real" hair that you could brush. I am somewhat ashamed to say that I bought my last one at age 13. It had hair that you could curl. That is the only one that still exists because it hardly ever got played with. (the others were loved to death) My daughter plays with it now when we visit my parents. My little sister had one named Katie Alena. She still has it! It was her special doll. I think it depends on if you are planning to have more children and how close together they are. My 2 girls are three years apart and so we used the crib for #2 and got a "big kid" bed for #1. In that case, it would have been much more expensive for us to have to buy another crib. But, if you are going to have 2 really close together and they will both need to be in a crib for a while...then maybe the convertible crib is the way to go. I thought this seat was great! It folds up compactly enough to fit in a large purse or diaper bag, which is where I kept it at all times, ready to go. It also fits inside a gallon size zip-loc bag so that everything stays clean. My daughter liked using the seat. She never felt like she was going to "fall in." I could relax when we were out running errands because I knew I had everything she needed in order to use the bathroom. Cushie Traveler Folding Padded Potty Seat |

We love to listen to Casper Babypants. Weird name, I know, but he is actually the lead singer of POTUSA and has three great kids albums. We also love the Medeski Martin and Wood Children's album and wish they would record another! Ohdeedads: Let's Talk About Kids' Music |

In our home, the french press method is SO much faster than the drip machine. We only use the drip machine if we are entertaining too many people and we can't get enough coffee out of the french press. Not sure how the french press is a fancy method. I know this is a post about dogs chewing, but cats chew too! At least one of my cats does. She has a love for anything wool or cashmere. I am really careful to never leave socks or sweater sitting out, but she can get into the drawers if they are open even a smidge. She chewed holes in a new cashmere wrap before I even had a chance to wear it. Most recently she chewed five holes in a cashmere shrug that I wear all the time. We haven't been able to get the bottom of "why" she chews. Since it is only one type of fabric and nothing else, I think she just really likes the smell/taste! Our parents (A.K.A The Grandparents) always want ideas, so I make a small list and hopefully they choose something from that. Because we are also blessed with limited storage, I try to have a few, "consumable" ideas on it. Things like a zoo membership or art class, or even art supplies! This is especially important for us now that we have more than one child in a small home. Limiting Gifts for Limited Space Good Questions |

We just transitioned our 3 month old into the planned shared nursery with her 3 year old sister 2 weeks ago. So far so good. The baby only wakes up once at night and the baby moniter helps me get to her before she cries enough to wake up her sister. Whether our 3 year old wakes the baby in the morning is hit or miss, but that doesn't matter as much right now. The use of white noise at night helps, I think. I really wish we could have gone straight to a twin bed. Unfortunately with toddler and baby sharing a room, there was not space. So, we got a hand-me-down toddler bed from a cousin and bought an inexpensive Ikea crib mattress for it. I was annoyed at having to buy another crib mattress that we will not use again, but Oh well! Yes, this is an issue. We have two cats and they start whining around 6am to be fed. We just ignore them until about 7am, but recently they have discovered that if they wake up our Pets that Wake the Baby | Apartment Therapy Ohdeedoh |

Right now since our daughter is so young (2 1/2) , we just get her one thing that we think she will really like. She doesn't need, nor do we have room for lots of toys. I always encourage the exited grandparents to think of things that will be easy to store, but I know the reality is that they will do whatever they want. =) The one gift from mom and dad hopefully balances out the overload from the grandparents.
