Not all victorian homes had crown molding, depending on the region, specific style of victorian, etc. Molding placed down from the ceiling as a picture rail, is a popular alternate detail, or not moldings at all. Michael's Grand Victorian House Tour | Apartment Therapy Boston |

I have lived with hot water radiators (in 2 separate homes) over the last 20 years and have had no problems. I like my radiators!! ...Although I do want them sandblasted to get rid of the many old paint layers. Refurbished Radiators: EcoRad’s Converted Cast Iron | Apartment Therapy San Francisco |

And what of the kitchens that have monstrous Viking or Wolfe stoves that are just there for show. I don't believe that all the examples we see are there because they get used, but because it's the trend now & you supposedly need it for "resale" value. As two laid-off architects, we dealt with the same issues. It was a nice treat to be able to spend more time together than usual. But to keep sane, we each had to make sure we still did our own thing for part of the day, often away from the house. Too Much Together Time? Recession Rebound | Apartment Therapy Chicago |

I had a low full-size platform bed that I built just as I wanted. I loved that bed. Now I have a higher queen-size bed (with box spring). Dang, that 6'-4" boyfriend, not wanting his feet to hang off the end! I don't mind the larger bed. Though it has changed the whole scale of the bedroom, so now everything else in the room needs to be readjusted. Tall vs. Short / High vs. Low Beds | Apartment Therapy New York |

When I bought my house (which I bought for the very reason of having unpainted wood trim & built-ins), every wall/ceiling surface was painted stark glossy white. When I painted with color (light yellow in the living room & lite apple green in the adjoining dining room) it actually made the rooms seem brighter as it took away the stark contrast of dark wood & white walls & mellowed it out. So, no, don't paint the wood if you like it - paint the walls first & see how it looks!!! How Should We Brighten This Room? Good Questions | Apartment Therapy Boston |

Due to getting a larger/higher bed, I recently had to move the large framedpieces I had above my bed to another wall. Basically it meant another wall became the focus wall, and I wasn't sure if it was working visually or not. It's interesting to see another example here of the focus wall not being at the head of the bed. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Romantic and Modern Bedroom With a Classic Twist |

I have done this before to expand my quantity of plants. Personally I have never liked the look of the roots exposed in the water, so I've always potted the plants as soon as they had some good roots going. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Pretty Plants: Rooting in Water |

My boyfriend is in the process of moving to my house. Our biggest problem is just going through all our "stuff", and neither of us thought we had that much. Realizing that we do have so much is making it easier to get rid of things we don't need/want anymore. We're both visual/design oriented with similar tastes, but it's still a compromise of how it all goes together. Apartment Therapy Boston | Marrying Spaces: Two Small Cools Become One |
