Day 16: Clear Out & Prep Your Room Apartment Therapy's Style Cure
8/22/13 10:11 PM

Vancouververa, congrats on getting ahead!

I, on the other hand, am still behind. I have decided that rather than stress, I'll make a family birthday in mid-September my goal to be finished.

In a flurry of inspiration, I figured out:
1. What it was in my inspriation photos that I really liked http://learningissocial.wordpress.com/2013/08/20/style-cure-week-1-wrap-up/
2. How to revamp my layout and move several items that I already have at home to new locations to help create the effect I want in my dining room. http://learningissocial.wordpress.com/2013/08/21/style-cure-a-plan/
3. Finally made some decisions on my purchases and projects http://learningissocial.wordpress.com/2013/08/21/style-cure-decisions-decisions/

Loving the kick-start!

Day 16: Clear Out & Prep Your Room Apartment Therapy's Style Cure

Who knew that this "simple" task of reading about colour would be so difficult! Maxwell had me second-guessing my switch from yellow-cream walls in my dining room to the faintest of blues since I do want it to be a social, comfortable and inviting area. Maybe it will be okay with all the wood in the room to warm it up? I also want to add neutral linens... and pops of orange... Will that help? Do I just ignore"the rules"?

It was all clear this morning but now I am second-guessing everything!

Day 6: Let's Learn About Color Apartment Therapy's Style Cure

I skipped Day 4 - I intended to set up an outbox but just started to clean and tidy instead... It’s not a job that is complete but more of a work in progress! In reality, I would like to keep most of the “stuff” in my dining room in that room but it just needs better storage.

Instead, I spent some time yesterday creating a Style Cure Pinterest page that showed furniture and colours that, as indicated in my Day 3 treasure hunt, might elicit the feel that I want in the room. http://pinterest.com/jensen1305/style-cure-dining-room/

Today, I created a floorplan of the room as it is currently set up - you can see my crazy workflow for creating that at http://learningissocial.wordpress.com/2013/08/13/style-cure-day-5-my-current-floorplan/

Together with my Day 3 photos it is clear that the room is both dark and sparsely furnished. Can't wait to make some changes of my own and follow all of yours!

Day 5: Make a Floor Plan Apartment Therapy's Style Cure

Like a few others, I am working on my dining room.

Interesting how taking photos of the room and spending time in different places within the room really illustrated what isn't working.

So fun to see how others are progressing!

Still catching up...

When I started to think about this and search online I thought I'd go with a rustic French/ Belgian/ Dutch look in my dining room but then I decided to go through my own photo library of pictures I have taken while on vacations of spaces that have felt comfortable. Turns out my dining room should either reflect an outdoor cafe or natural spaces in central Ontario.

Can these be married?! http://learningissocial.wordpress.com/2013/08/11/stylecure-day-2/

Day 2: Weekend Chores - Go on a Style Treasure Hunt and Share Your Findings Apartment Therapy's Style Cure

Also playing catch-up here! Looking forward to making my dining room bright, airy and functional with a hint of funky... http://learningissocial.wordpress.com/2013/08/11/apartment-therapy-style-cure-begins/
