I'm not sure if it's practical, but it's great looking.

I would be more tempted to fork over that much $$$ for something like this than the basic HDMI cables that the big boxes push for the same price.

Very cool design, but not worth the price for me!

And I just read the text of the article - nothing original in my Matrix comment. How awkward.

I love it! It reminds me of the squids in The Matrix.

I try to get as much usefulness out of my items as I can. Two out of three TV's in my house are over 10 years old. My desktop is 5 years old. I have a laptop that's older (and one that's less than a year old). At some point we'll get a shiny new HD flat panel.

In my workshop, I'm still using my parents' old stereo that they had used for a few years (they gave it to me about 10 years ago). I've even had to repair one of the speakers after a tragic fall off the shelf it was on.

I used a Motorola Razr for 4 years before it started to die. However, I seem to go through MP3 players too quickly because they die (of course, I use them in the yard while working, so I'm sure that has a little to do with it).

I did just order up a label maker. It's not as sexy as an IPhone or Crackberry, but it's new.

I'm a tech guy by nature (I develop software for a living) but hate to spend money on something new when I already have something completely usable at home!

That's clever! Very simple, very effective. Completely non-intrusive. Bravo!

For $20? No brainer - that's a stellar buy.

Any idea on the price of these? I'm interesting in getting a unit for my garage.

With a little bit of work, it wouldn't look to bad. I like @Micheal Wendell's pics... If you took that approach one step further and ditched the clamps in favor of just drilling straight through the pipe (you would have to have a pipe big enough to fit the wires and the screws for the lamps), then it wouldn't look too bad.

I'm thinkig about using this approach for some video work I'm doing in my garage.

The funny thing is that this site is right next to MAKE Magazine's feed (a magazine / site dedicated to doing electronics type things yourself) in my browser. While I don't personally see the value in building this project myself (considering how cheap they have gotten), there are always some folks out there that would rather build their own for satisfaction, having the ability to fix it themselves, learning something, etc.

Electric mowers are a great idea. A gas mower running for only an hour spews out as much pollution as a car does running for many hours. Also, given the simplicity of maintaining an electric mower vs gas (1 moving part, no oil to change, etc) - it's easy to take care of.

Over on EVAlbum there are a whole bunch of DIY electric mower projects. The folks there seem very pleased with them.

Oh - and I just use a nice oversized mousepad. It's not clever, but it gets the job done.

@rainman - I have glass desk but the bottom is frosted. It does a great job of hiding fingerprints. You can pick up some frosting spray at your favorite DIY store - it's cheap and easy to apply.
