I would paint the front door a deep, rusty orange/copper color, like Sherwin Williams "Copper Mountain", and I would not make a big feature of the steps by painting them the same - I would paint them the same color as the body of the house or the foundation color and make them blend in and fade away a bit - that way the door is the pop of color and the featured element. I think the door color would then very nicely relate to your trim color as well. And perhaps some new larger copper-y address numbers, and move the mailbox from the floor of your stoop up and onto the outside of the house under the address numbers and under a new light fixture? Sorry, got a bit carried away there! :-) Cute house, and cute pup!

I agree with the other commenter that said "too much white". There is no visual contrast, and everything blends into everything else. You have such lovely color on your walls, and in your pendant light fixture - you need to make those colors sing!

I would paint the lower cabinets a medium value warm gray, not too dark - I think that would look great with the yellow wall and light fixture, as well as the aqua wall, work well with your wood chairs, and also relate well to your warmer backsplash and flooring tones. It would work as a neutral bridge between the warm and cool tones in the room. Perhaps then a lighter value of the warm gray on the upper cabinets. I would also replace the pulls on the cabinets - remove the pulls on the upper cabinets, fill those holes, and move the hardware location down to the bottom corner of the cabinet door, and replace with a knob - maybe something contemporary in a bright yellow glass to relate to your light fixture - a little sparkle and color? The hardware on the base cabinets would not necessarily have to match, but again, the pulls on the doors are too low. You have a great start, and a cute kitchen - keep going and do not hesitate to paint over the white on your cabinets!

I have to say - my first instinct when looking at your photo was dark grey - like Benjamin Moore "Graphite", and then hanging your art that currently sits on top of the cabinets would really make it pop against that wall. BUT - if grey is not your thing - please - please - not "bright" or "cobalt" blue - I fear that would look too "kid's room" - you do need a strong saturated color to work with all of the very saturated tones of the cherry cabinets and the black on the appliances. If your heart leads you to blues, use a greyed-down, sophisticated, darker value blue like Benjamin Moore "Mineral Alloy" or "Stillwater" - they are closer to a denim color that you mentioned might work for your space. OR - if you are feeling like pushing it a bit, I would put a large scale black/white pattern on that wall - Ikea has a cool drapery panel of birch trees that could inspire a great painted wall treatment:

I love the grey walls, too! I always paint a bedroom a darker, serene color - it's so nice to sleep in a dark room. Have a look at the Thomas Paul fabrics from Duralee - fun and graphic, and many patterns and colorways to relate to the grey walls, and bring in color, too. Orange! I am all for sewing up your own curtains to create something uniquely yours. I would hang full curtain panels from the ceiling line down - your bed looks low, so elongating the line of the window vertically should add a sense of height.

And IKEA has great fabrics - I always look at their textiles - inexpensive, and very graphic, very cool.
