Hey ya'll, I wondered the same thing, so I wrote a post about the four ways to compost indoors. If you know of any others, let me know!

Banning plastic bags is the first step. Banning paper bags is the next step. I like to think that, at the very least, we're on the right path now....

You know, when I saw this over at his site I thought... well, I guess it's kind of green, but it would have been way greener to just keep the same switchplates and refinish them. He's a crafty guy, he knows all about the decopague, paint, etc... it might sound nitpicky but the greenest choice is always to avoid buying new stuff, when the old stuff is still perfectly usable.

Whoa, no way! I've been stuck on a green/inexpensive-ish countertop solution and would love for cork to be the answer! I know it's water-resistant, but really, how well would it stand up to the near-constant wet of a kitchen counter? Hmmm...

We love bamboo sporks! I carry mine around (along with my reusable bag and reusable cup) so that I'm never stuck taking a plastic fork when I'm eating on the run. It weighs nothing and takes up no space... and is just the cutest eating implement ever. :)

I just find it so funny that Dr. B stresses you out. ALL ONE, my brother!
:)

Next time you finish a bottle of shampoo or conditioner, wash it out and put the Dr. Bronners in there...

Recyeled Runners does seem like a great program! There are also others to choose from, depending on your location-- see here for more ideas.

Another benefit of storing food scraps in the freezer is that it kills any fruit fly eggs which might be on them-- so less of a fly problem in the compost pile! Also, the scraps won't smell if they're frozen-- so it removes the "ick" factor completely-- no smell and no rotting scraps.

This is a nice product, but it still creates waste-- the plastic packet and the teabag itself (though the teabag is compostable, which is nice)... but I just have a small "Beehouse" teapot with stainless-steel filter at my desk, which I keep refilling all day. The first two pots are nice and strong, and the subsequent pots get weaker and weaker. This lets me feed my tea addiction but keeps the caffine addiction at bay! And, no waste.

I am absolutely in love with my Chico Bag. I've been using it non-stop for well over a year and it's just beginning to show signs of wear. It holds a tremendous amount of stuff and packs up so nice and small in its little attached pouch. Love, I tell you, love!

Back when I drank coffee I used one of these hemp filters, and it worked great. It quickly became stained the color of coffee, which was fine, and we had a hook on the side of the fridge where it would hang to dry. Those reusable metal ones are definitely slightly easier to use, but with hemp you get to avoid the metal grid and the plastic frame-- so overall a much greener option.
