Also, the best scratcher is some sisal rope wrapped tightly around a 3-inch wide piece of plywood and screwed top and bottom into a doorjamb. Cats like nice firm support for their destructive binges :)

This may be no help at all, but we bought a leather sofa knowing we had two cats. They have not touched the thing. Maybe I just have wonderful cats, maybe it's my screaming when they lift a paw towards it... but if you can afford a leather couch, I recommend it.

I'm married and childless (except for the cats...) and we have our own washer/dryer in our apartment. I SHOULD do 1 load a day but usually I slack off and then have to do 3 or 4 (or 5) loads in a day. Darks in warm, lights in warm/hot, colors in cold water wash. And yes, I iron... my husband's shirts (that are not polo), rayon tops, dress slacks.

Tenants love it; landlords hate it. Why shouldn't a landlord be able to charge $4,000 for an apartment if at least one tenant is able to afford it? To hell with the thousands who can't. They can live on the street.

And they do. "Charming."

I took down my vertical blinds (after 6 years!) and replaced them with curtains on rings. But I don't plan on re-mounting the blinds when I leave. They are safe in a large plastic bag and will be lying neatly under their window when the moving truck rumbles away.
