WOOOHOOO! We are a pancake family here. And yes, I get all earthy and natural, so I am wondering, you think the same color/look can be achieved with whole wheat flour? I use a 50 - 50 mix of whole wheat and all purpose, so I assume yes? I'll have to wait to try it out. ( my toddler still eats his pancakes one at a time by hand, but we'r workingon the fork thing!!!)

LOVE IT. Such a great & fun idea mama!

Honestly, I only glanced at the images and read on. In my head I thought... 'no - the pros are right, you are using way too many wood varieties'. But then I really reviewed the images. I was wrong. I love the result. Excellent job!

I agree, the cook top is exactly like the one that died in our place, built in 1957. (It was an awesome shade of aqua - cool to look at for sure). Certainly 50's in my book. Back when they had "Gold Star Electric Homes". Sigh... I miss gas.

Simply echoing many other comments. Wouldn't be my first choice for style. AT ALL!!!!! That said, WELL DONE! WELL DONE! WELL DONE! Your sense of your own style really comes through and gives this place a very comfortable feel. I too find it hard to believe it's only 600 sq feet! Very lovely.

I am devastated. I hate, and man - do I mean HATE, bananas. Bleck. Oh well. I guess the old school way will have to work for me.

In the assumption that you do for sure go cloth, here is what I did.

Prefolds - you'll need about 12 (for daytime) They are cheap and very versatile. Get 2 or 3 snappis to hold them on
Pocket dipes - You'll need another 6-10 of these (for outings, babysitters and nighttime when you can really bulk them up) I used Bum Genius and made homemade (all kinds of patterns out there and they are EASY!!!)
Diaper covers - 4 at the min to begin with, add as baby grows.

This is a beginning stash... gives you a chance to try ot and get an idea of what you may like. I eventually evolved into more pockets that I made as I went. (One a week) Also bought mor dipe covers and started just laying the prefolds into them as my babe outgrew wearing them with a snappi.

All in all, I have spent about $300 in diapers and my son is 11 months old. It's great.

Try greenmountaindiapers.com, jilliansdrawers.com or bananapeelsdiapers.com for options. Jillians has a great starter kit, return what you don't like, even the whole package and it only costs $10!!!

I could go on and on... I have SOOO much research on this. You want pattern links? I got em? You want instruction links? I got those too.... try diaperpin.com

Good luck!!

southerngrace... ha ha... totally agree. And this is from someone who refuses to have boxed cake mix around. I never realized how passionate some folks are. Me? Just don't like it, I think for the same reasons.... artificial this and that... but WOW... didn't realize there was an anti-cake mix army out there.

Whoa..... I have never heard of these. And I must say, I give your father a great deal of credit for eating them. You as well for even taking a smalll taste. I am pretty open minded - but WOW... I think I will pass.

I guess it's true what they say, you eat with your eyes first. And my eyes want to throw up. ;) Sorry... may taste delicious... just can't. I wouldn't be surprised if I was missing out, but eewwww.

totally agree with slowdown. Bleck. Time and open windows is your best bet. I HATE HATE HATE any and all synthetic scents. I don't understand it. Once you remove it from your home, the moment it somehow makes it back it can almost make me gag. Sweet chemicals is all I smell.

Hmmm... I guess I am alone here. Not AGAINST paper towels but really I haven't missed them a bit. I know I do have a bit of an advantage with a larger home (not the small space apartment of most) so I have a large amount of rags beyond just the wash towels for the kitchen and a garage to store them in. I can't argue that everyone can do this.

We don't fry foods much (don't eat bacon) and save most grease we create for later use. I even wipe out my beloved cast iron skillet (named Hank) with clean rags.

I don't think I have wanted or needed a paper towel in years. But again, even with a couple of dogs that like to spit up meals now and again, I have managed.

Should be interesting. Tim Burton always seems to put a different twist on things. It will be nice to see him hopefully do something more colorful but hopefully not as overdone as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Not his best. I hope he redeems himself with this story.

Not surprising to see Johnny Depp. He is LOVELY, but it would be refreshing for Burton to use another actor for once. But I'll take me some Johnny Depp ! Yes please!

Unsalted is all I buy. But I agree that salted butter tastes better on toast and jam. Just adds a little oomph of flavor! But really, it's so easy to ever so lightly add your own on top, I would say... make it easy on yourself. Unsalted all the way.

I think the general message is to lighten up. Enjoy there here and now and not be so focused on every little thing. The list may seem contradictory to some. I can understand why. But he raises and interesting point. From it, I can see myself stepping back, taking a deep breathe and letting go a little. I think if you do, you actually may have a better grasp.

I like it.

Ha! I love how the redo was considered pedestrian! How can that be bad here? Honestly, I agree with most of the expressed comments here. The previous bathroom could have used some simple alterations to be pretty fab (that wall paper is cool) but for regular daily living... this "makeunder" does an excellent job.

I am curious, if the diamond edge stone is not necessary for sharpening, why use it? I would lean toward the budget friendly stone unless there is some added bonus the diamond edge stone provides. It's wasn't addressed in the video. Can someone let me know?

I REALLY need to sharpen my beloved knives and will be heading out for one of these stone styles once I know.
