I'm pretty sure I wore that MTM sweater!

I'm completely addicted to Pinterest (despite some peeves -- including those mentioned above).

For one thing, I've never been completely confident about what my design sensibility is. But yesterday, as I looked across all of my virtual boards, I could really see definite patterns emerging. There are specific looks that thrill me, and I now recognize them whether they're present in furniture, paper ephemera, clothing, books or whatever. Somehow I never noticed this when I sorted through random magazine clips.

Also, as somebody else also mentioned, there's something to be said for drawing inspiration from a community you might otherwise not have access to. It's pretty easy to bypass the trite and repeated stuff, especially if you make good use of the tagging system.

I'm hooked!

The "birth of her daughter?" She only has one? Because she's been pregnant in every single show I've seen! :^)

Among other furniture items, my husband recently inherited his family's beautiful wood dictionary stand. At least, that's what they used it for. It's possible they also were used to display the family Bible or sheet music. We put our large illustrated dictionary on it, although we usually just look up words electronically.

We were married in 1984 and immediately ordered some nice prints from our wedding photographer. But two years ago I decided that I really wanted all the negatives, if possible.

I thought it would be impossible to track this guy down after 25 years. But, amazingly, he was at the same address and the same phone number! When I asked him about the negatives, he said, "I'll call you back." Ten minutes later, he called to say he had found them and had put them in the mail, free of charge. I have no idea what his living space looks like, but now I imagine it's much like Bill Cunningham's.

In post-college 1980, I paid $20 for a new David Lance Goines print. It traveled with us around the country, until we moved from D.C. to Dallas. We mistakenly left it behind and called the realtor. "Yes," she said. "I have it right here." And then .... SHE KEPT IT. Just wouldn't return our calls.

I have found that I could replace it -- for $500.

Ironically, my computer refuses to play the sound on the YouTube dishwasher video.

And I beg you not to forget top-notch text editing. The posts can still have that casual, individual charm without the horrible punctuation and often awkward phrasing. Apartment Therapy is a big deal, now! Embrace professionalism!

We also have a suit of armour (which doesn't seem weird now that I've read these posts). It came from the set of a TV show I worked on. It wears various headgear related to the holidays/seasons. It's currently wearing a San Francisco Giants World Series cap and a "I Voted" sticker on its chest.

I do understand stocking up for unplanned events (layoffs, bad weather, etc.), but:

1) this photo looks like a haven for rats, and

2) I heard one couponing woman say she took every one of a specific product off the shelf "but left one in case somebody needs it." Gee, that's great of you. What are you going to do with the other 18 boxes you "bought?"

As others have said, it just seems wasteful and selfish.
