I love my counter-depth, bottom freezer (with drawers), smaller GE fridge. Nothing gets lost in the back or bottom and I feel I waste less food becasue I can see all of it and I don't buy excess. Also having the fridge not stick out 6" has really made the space look bigger.

I agree with Carrotsticks, take the drawers out and then move it. And something I learned from an Ebay seller, put mailing tubes (cut to size) over delicate furniture legs to prevent damage.

I use the 3-ring binder system too, but I also take photos of the recipes with my phone or Ipad. The phone pics are great to take to the supermarket instead of writing a list.

My apartment building has a bookshelf in the laundry room for used books and magazines. I don't mind getting rid of magazines as they are always taken by someone else.

I hang brooms/mops on 3M hooks behind the kitchen door that is always kept open. The step ladder is there too. My iron/ironing board hangs inside a closet door.

I agree with @CLUR - I needed an odd-sized cabinet and Ikea sizes weren't close. Big Box quoted me a price of over $400 for a custom cabinet. I took a chance and used Barker for a custom flat packed cabinet that cost $125 with shipping. It took 15 min to assemble (I watched the video online). The doors and shelves are real wood. Ready to assemble companies like Barker should be considered an option in kitchen renos, especially if you need an unusual size.

A decent bed and sofa ( things I'm squimish about buying used) would cost you that much. If you're happy with the things you have, why wouldn't you want to keep them? Eliminate stuff you don't care about but definitely move the stuff you love.

Also look at Greyhound, they have a package service.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I'm moving from a master bedroom with 2 large windows to a smaller bedroom with one window with less light because I think I will sleep better. Also, I'd rather be in the brighter, larger room during the day and will use it as a den/office.

I have pink tile (but white tub and toilet) in my 1950s co-op. The floor tile is peach/orange and pink. I wish I could find those tiles to replace the worn floor. I'm keeping the pink!

I was born and raised in Manhattan and it has become a miserable, expensive place. It's lost its charm and special neighborhoods. I chose to live in Queens because there is still some neighborhood character but that too is dwindling.

I have a paper lantern with lighting cord hanging from my ceiling by 3M cable hooks and it's been up for a while now. But I wouldn't hang anything heavier from an adhesive hook.

I think the easiest thing to change is the red paint -- something lighter (I think I'd go white/off-white) will make the space less cave-like. Next, change the hardware on the cabinets, I don't think they need to be painted. As for the nook - a round cafe table with two chairs should fit.

I switched and will never go back to shower doors. I use a clear plastic liner, and a very sheer Martha Stewart fabric curtain and it really opened up the space and allowed more light into the bath tub area. I also bought these hooks so it's easy to wash and replace either curtain without having to take everything off the rod.

I've done the same thing many times before. I'll eat it if the room did not get warmer than room temp -- winter is fine, but I'd toss it in the summer.

Sheet pans and a food processor. Cheap sheet pans warp and a processor grates, shreds and can make pie crust. I'm a baker and survive without a Kitchen Aid mixer, but have a heavy duty hand mixer.
