How do you keep the electronics inside from overheating?

Apple loves you. Instead of keeping your macs safe, you subject them to horrible environments for electronics, guaranteeing them an early demise. Can I have some money? You must make enough to afford buying new computers more frequently than you should. :p

I get the reasoning behind a humidifier. For some people, the low humidity becomes a health issue and they need the added moisture in the air. Also, air too dry or too damp can usher in some viruses. If you can maintain a 45 - 60% relative humidity level, you can avoid some airborne viruses as well as ESD damage to sensitive electronics.

The problem is that, with the exception of the southwest, most places within the US during the summer months are not only brutally hot, they are hovering anywhere from 55 - 85% relative humidity which makes the environment that much more oppressive. For instance today, the forcast where I live is 100 F with a heat index of 110 F and 56% RH and that humidity level is low for here and very low for some other places this time of year.

I've been to the very same store seen in the photo above, but I'm with the first commenter. I'm really surprised they don't have more locations. If the drive isn't bad, it's the amount of traffic you have to ford through in order to get there, especially on Metcalf where this store is located. Every time I see a new construction site break ground near me, I hope and wish for a new Microcenter so I dont have to travel 50 miles round trip, but alas.

This certainly would have come in handy when I had my Logitech wireless keyboard. A feature inexplicably missing from some of their wireless keyboards. Now that I have a Apple bluetooth keyboard however, I dont need it since my keyboard actually has a light indicator that my capslock is on.

You'll excuse my lack of appreciation. I have a rather nice HP laptop meet an early demise thanks to my cat and nearly loss a brand new Dell to another. Luckily the Dell was still under warranty.

Though it is all a matter of personal taste, I much prefer the wood look. It gives the area a much warmer appearance which is nice when you spend a lot of time at or near your work area. With the proper lighting, and the proper placement, you can have enough lighting to continue to work and the remainder fades into the darkness. This helps me focus on my computer and immediate work areas instead of elsewhere.

Pantyhose....a good way to kill a mainframe, or other minimally insulated systems, in very short order.

If this saves me from having to boot into Windows and manually editing tags with Mp3tag, I may consider giving this program a go. However, I do wish the pricing was more in line with their free alternative competitors. Not saying it should be free, but $30 for a lifetime license seems to be a bit high for what you're getting.

This is not just a problem with front loaders. I've got the same issue with a top loader as well. We eventually corrected the problem by first running a cycle on hot with a half a gallon of simple green, two more with plain cold water, then another with hot water and bleach.
To prevent the mold from returning, stop using liquid softener and liquid detergent. Use powered detergent and dryer sheets in the dryer rather than fabric softener in the wash.
Not sure why it works, but that's what you'll find as a solution all over the web if you google it.

Very nice. I never thought about dovetails to form the leg supports on either of the two desks I've built. Great idea! Love the butcher block top too. That's totally sweet.

They make magnetize/demagnetizes for screw drivers and are usually very inexpensive. However, in a pinch, you can always tap the metal end of the screw driver on a hard surface like a concrete floor and achieve brief magnetization.

The facilities department in the building I work installed these things all over in an attempt to be "green". They even put them on the vending machines. The only thing they managed to accomplish is the more frequent replacement of bulbs and malfunctioning vending machines.

The bulbs would burn out prematurely from the constant on and off states. Often times, if you didn't move enough or were out of the line of sight from the sensors, the lights would turn out while you were in the room. This proved to be problematic when mechanics were working on live machinery or high voltage gear. Nothing like reaching in with a tool and the lights go out on you.

Despite the protesting from a multitude of people, our facilities department proceeded as if nothing was wrong despite the fact that we had a trash compactor full of mercury filled bulbs and what ever they saved in electricity they more than negated in new bulb costs and the $75 for each sensor switch they installed.

The vending machines also had issues too. They would remain in a low power state when no one was near them. The refrigeration would remain on, but the bill and coin mechanisms would remain powered off along with the front lights of the machine. The problems became apparent when someone would walk into the room and it was like hitting the jackpot in Vegas. All the machines would empty all their change like a slot machine and then refuse to accept anything but exact change afterwords.

So I'd have to say emphatically, NO, they do not save energy nor money. It's a farce.

I'm sorry, but that photo looks like an incredibly bad photoshop job. Either our president has an enormous head or that cut and paste was done poorly.

I just did a major remodel and the first thing I plugged in was a lamp, followed by my mac.
