This would be really cool in an airport lounge.

Just chiming in with Hinmelb and all the other Aussies who've commented on the ubiquity of arches in older Australian homes. There's nothing unique or "architectural" about them -- they're everywhere in homes of a certain era (including mine, on the opposite side of the country from this renovation). If I had the financial resources, I'd get rid of mine too. It does nothing but block the light and make the ceilings in that area of the house seem low and cramped. Also, it's starting to crack (again, something I've seen in many homes), so I'm guessing it's going to go one of these days whether I can afford it or not!

6 Simple Changes To Make at Home To Help You Sleep

I'm a Gen X-er, and I came to gardening only recently. Why? Because I now live in a climate that's conducive to growing what I want to eat (Sydney, Australia) and it was only a few years ago that I bought a house with a yard (I previously lived in a 6th floor flat). Now I have a thriving herb garden on my balcony and my entire side yard is a citrus grove, where I grow Eureka lemons, blood oranges, grapefruit, and Tahitian limes.

As for what I want from the gardening world that I'm not already getting, here are just two wishes:

1. That people who contribute to gardening forums learn to spell, punctuate, and turn off capslock; and

2. That more garden centres extend their opening hours beyond 9-5 during the week and Saturday mornings. Unlike the gardeners in my neighbourhood who are retired, I'm at work during business hours.

I bought a latex mattress two years ago when we upgraded to a king-size bed.

Pros: no development of hills and valleys (granted, neither of us are very heavy), absolutely no disturbance to the other person when one of us rolls over, and improved comfort.

Cons: doesn't "breathe" well, despite all the other bed "accessories" (mattress protector, sheets, duvet, etc.) being 100% natural fibres like cotton, linen, and wool. I get night sweats thanks to some medical treatments that I'm currently undergoing, and they are worse when I sleep on this mattress. When I'm in the spare room, which has an inner spring mattress, they don't seem to bother me as much.

The only reason I don't have books in my bedroom is that there's no room for additional furniture beyond the bed, two stools that function as night stands, and a wicker chair in the corner.

I do, however, have bookshelves in the living room, dining room, study, and spare bedroom, though!

Gorgeous! Definitely puts my 14-year-old self's bedroom (which was heavy on pin-ups of Corey Haim and River Phoenix ripped out of Tiger Beat) to shame!

Realcalm, yeah, I agree that some of them are a bit twee :-) But maybe there were space constraints that led one or more of these people to a non-traditional solution? I have a wooden, backless stool on either side of my bed for two reasons: (1) my bedroom is narrow so regular bedside tables wouldn't fit, and (2) they're the only thing high enough to match the height of my mattress, which means that the room benefits a lot more from the bedside lamps.

"A boarding announcement? Hmmm... what legendary Designer and Architect is known for his ubiquitous airport seating that you can still find after decades of use- because of the quality and incredible comfort?"

LOL, Knifemouth -- just because someone "legendary" designed a piece of furniture doesn't mean it's going to be universally adored. And a simple expression of dislike isn't a complaint.

Seconding Urbancricket's comment about the need for good references. Also, I once lucked into an apartment because the real estate agent liked my handwriting -- go figure!

(BTW, this post is reminding me why, despite having a mortgage and all the responsibilities that go along with being a homeowner, I'm so glad to be out of the rental market!)

Nice project, but I echo some of the other commenters upthread in asking why you thought an article about a Macbook revamp needed a derogatory comment about British people's teeth. If I were inclined to rudeness myself, I might respond with a snarky comment about the American healthcare system... but I'll restrain myself.

Hmmm. Not really feeling the change, nor am I really sympathizing with all the commenters leaping up and shouting "You're mean!" to anyone who's dared to post anything other than "Love it!" Yup, this works great. Just make sure the razor is really sharp, as a dull one will just hook the pills and pull them along, making picks in your sweater. Also, it's easier to do this on garments if there's a hard surface underneath, so I always pull my sweaters onto my ironing board and then de-fuzz away!

Not really feeling it either, sorry. The mockup posted at The Lettered Cottage made much better use of the space (and no, I am not connected to that website in any way).
