We've had our Ammero furniture for 1.5 years. I love them and think they've held up really well (we leave them outside in Northern California). My husband, who is 6'2", does not find them comfortable to sit in for his size. They are lower to the ground and the chair back is not high enough for him. We have washed the covers a few times and they have done well.

We have 2 children and our landlord has decided to put our rental up for sale this year. We need to move and this means our children will be likely need to change schools/towns. With children, it's nice to remove this type of uncertainty by buying your home, so you can decide to stay. We're finding our landlord's decision heart-wrenching and if any of your friends with kids have gone through this, I'm sure that where part of their "concern" is coming from.

We have floor to ceiling windows in our 1950's era Eichler. Many of our neighbors have window coverings for their windows, but we only have shades on the ones in the Master Bedroom. The previous owners didn't have anything, even in the bedroom if you can believe that!! It takes a bit of getting used to at night. Our 4-year old daughter was a little freaked out at first, but now we think it's lovely to see the moon from lots of angles as it rises at night.

With autumn upon us I am updating the lighting in the house and I'm frustrated by a few things:

CFLs neither dim nor deal with the 3-way thing well (even a "3-way dimmable" CFL buzzed and flickered).

LEDs aren't bright enough! The brightest sold at Home Depot is the equivalent of 75watts and it was $40! Some bulb advice on AT would be much appreciated.

I don't get AT anymore - this post included. There used to be reams of GOOD content, and now the content seems to be reduced by 50-70% at EACH of the sites and the content that is there is not so great... What is going on????

I love the title and got a good chuckle out of it because we are struggling to keep our 3 YEAR old sleeping through the night. Good luck at 3 months!!

I broke my arm as a kid helping my mom in the kitchen and have been hot and cold on my daughter helping in the kitchen because I am so afraid of her hurting herself. The real problem is that she needs to stand on a step stool or chair and I just don't feel that any of them are safe enough! If only our kitchen was large enough for one of the Learning Towers. Maybe the next place will be... What do other people use?

I second the request for the source of the shelves. I'm determined to find something besides an Expedit, too!

Our rental bathroom also looked quite harsh when the extremely bright light fixture was on. Then we unscrewed half of the bulbs just to the point when they no longer turn on. The softer light has done wonders for our impression of the bathroom!

So IKEA sells something like this and I see it and wonder - do people really use them or are they mostly decorative? Are they actually comfortable to sit on?

Also tutorials on post-processing. Using the simple Edit tools I can bring some of my photos back from the brink of terrible, but I want to really make them pop!

When I see really good photos, I'm often impressed more by the setting: the quality of the light, the sparseness of the background, and the cute clothes/accessories on the kid! I'd love some tutorials on setting up photos indoors and out.

My daughter has Bunnies by the Bay "Lily Mae" at home and "Skip It" at school. They are super cute and are still looking good, even after being well loved.

When my daughter was 12 months, I gave her kitchen utensils + a bowl to play with. Varying spoons, potato masher, baster made for something different every night.
Now that she is 2 1/2, she really helps and can handle almost all of the ingredients for fritatta. She cracks the eggs gently (I split them), adds pre-grated cheese and frozen chopped spinach and mixes the whole thing together. Amazingly is doesn't make her any more inspired to eat the fritatta.
