I don't get AT anymore - this post included. There used to be reams of GOOD content, and now the content seems to be reduced by 50-70% at EACH of the sites and the content that is there is not so great... What is going on????

I love the title and got a good chuckle out of it because we are struggling to keep our 3 YEAR old sleeping through the night. Good luck at 3 months!!

I broke my arm as a kid helping my mom in the kitchen and have been hot and cold on my daughter helping in the kitchen because I am so afraid of her hurting herself. The real problem is that she needs to stand on a step stool or chair and I just don't feel that any of them are safe enough! If only our kitchen was large enough for one of the Learning Towers. Maybe the next place will be... What do other people use?

Apologies, it is cited at the bottom of the post as the Piper Bed from Room and Board.

Does anyone know where the bed in this picture is from?

I second the request for the source of the shelves. I'm determined to find something besides an Expedit, too!

Our rental bathroom also looked quite harsh when the extremely bright light fixture was on. Then we unscrewed half of the bulbs just to the point when they no longer turn on. The softer light has done wonders for our impression of the bathroom!

So IKEA sells something like this and I see it and wonder - do people really use them or are they mostly decorative? Are they actually comfortable to sit on?

Also tutorials on post-processing. Using the simple Edit tools I can bring some of my photos back from the brink of terrible, but I want to really make them pop!

When I see really good photos, I'm often impressed more by the setting: the quality of the light, the sparseness of the background, and the cute clothes/accessories on the kid! I'd love some tutorials on setting up photos indoors and out.

My daughter has Bunnies by the Bay "Lily Mae" at home and "Skip It" at school. They are super cute and are still looking good, even after being well loved.

When my daughter was 12 months, I gave her kitchen utensils + a bowl to play with. Varying spoons, potato masher, baster made for something different every night.
Now that she is 2 1/2, she really helps and can handle almost all of the ingredients for fritatta. She cracks the eggs gently (I split them), adds pre-grated cheese and frozen chopped spinach and mixes the whole thing together. Amazingly is doesn't make her any more inspired to eat the fritatta.

I've used the rice/tapioca/potato starch blend from Bette Hagman's Gluten-free Gourmet books for years. 2 parts rice flour (brown or white, superfine), 2/3 part potato starch, 1/3 part tapioca starch. Ener-G foods carries it as their "Gluten-free Gourmet Blend." If I'm making bread I substitute a bit of the GF blend for sorghum flour.

You must use xanthan gum when baking with GF flours. Bette Hagman's rule of thumb:
For bread: 1 tsp xanthan gum per 1 cup GF flour.
For cakes: 1/2 tsp per 1 cup GF flour
For cookies: 1/4 tsp per 1 cup GF flour

TJ's sesame rice thins are quite good. I usually have Mary's Gone (plain flavor) crackers in the house and they are well received by everyone who's tried them!

When I was diagnosed with Celiac disease 29 years ago (I was 2 1/2 years old), the only cookbook available was one my mother mail ordered from a Celiac Group in Canada. Today my favorite food blog is having a gluten-free *week*! I can't even begin to tell you how awesome that is!!

We loved our Arm's Reach Mini and our crib went unused until our daughter was 6 months old.

That said, a friend who is a really light sleeper had a son who was a really independent sleeper. He rarely fell asleep while being carried or held, but did fine when he was on his own. He was in his crib from day 1. So it does depend on you and your child.

I hang a garland with lights for the holidays and my daughter and husband begged me to leave them up. Turning them on every morning over breakfast became part of their ritual. I finally took them down before Easter!

We absolutely love our Oxo Candelas and have given them to every expectant friend so far. They make nighttime so much more pleasant - I nursed by them and we still use them all the time. The light is unobtrusive enough that you can go in and help look for a sleepy kid's paci in the middle of the night without completely waking them up!

My go-to grain salad is a quinoa salad with cilantro-lime dressing from Deborah Madison's Vegetarian Cooking for everyone. It has raisins, fennel, nuts, and an awesome lime-cumin-cilantro dressing. I have been asked so many times for the recipe!
