You had me at "confetti chicken".
Aside from that, good choice sticking with the original floors. I think they'll look great once they're all patched up.

Wow! I love the color blocked velvet. And I never would have guessed that was a rattan chair underneath the vinyl. I'll be on the lookout for one of those next time I go thrifting.

I made the whale last year for my little neice for Christmas. I knew it would be hard to part with him, so I made another for myself! I added some bling with sequin barnacles. ;)

Hi, Casey here. Thanks so much for sharing my project! The wrapping did indeed take a while to do, but I spread it out over a week or so, wrapping here and there in the evenings while I watched tv. I just used a clip to keep it from unraveling when I needed a break.

@LSUgrad: I don't have any cats, so I'm not sure how the twine would hold up if it was chewed. :)

Beautiful room! I especially love the headboard, the lamps, and the art above the bed. Well done!

Beautiful space! I love that mirror and, of course, the wallpaper.

Wow, that kitchen/dining area is an exact replica of the one I had in a 1930's spanish style apartment in downtown San Jose. Except mine was 'renovated' with faux wood-grain laminate countertops. Yeesh. This one is much nicer. :)

I work full time and additionally run my handmade businesses out of my little one bedroom place. Things have gotten a bit chaotic in there with the holiday orders! I just passed my holiday shipping deadline and am so looking forward to getting everything back into place and spiffed up again. I'm also trying to live more like a minimalist, so I need to do a serious purge. I can't wait to get started!

San Jose, CA
Currently paying $1750/mo for a 2 br/1 ba duplex with a small yard and 1 car garage.
Low end for a 2 br: $1600
High: $1800

That said, I'm signing a leas for a 1 br/1 ba apartment in Los Gatos tomorrow for $1250/mo. It's difficult to find a decent 1 br in a nice area of Silicon Valley for less than $1200. Not so hard if you don't mind cockroaches. :)

I put the tree up whenever I get a chance, but never take it down before January 7th. Yes, the 12 days of Christmas start on Christmas, not before!

I just painted my bedroom something similar to #2. I'm really liking it! It makes the room look so much larger, too.

Those are so pretty! I especially like the ones with blues and greens. They would look great with a single structural plant, like a specimen cactus or a snake plant.

My boyfriend and I have been in our "new" place for 5 months now. That means 5 months of living with our terrible reddish-brown bedroom walls. I painted my office first. Since we didn't "live" in there it was easier to get that project done. Just a couple of days ago I broke out the primer and started painting the brown. I only got about 1/4th of the walls primed, but I figured it's just enough motivation to force me to finish the job. I feel better in there already! The reward will be looking in there and never seeing that brown again.

The only things I have ever found in my apartments are a Playboy (college girls edition) and a horrible ceramic music box with roses and bible verses on it. I had no use for either! I wish I found those cool hangers instead.

The first airstream is so lovely. That would be a nice way to camp! My parents had an airstream-esque trailer when I was growing up, which they sadly sold. I would have loved to get my hands on it as an adult. I also love teardrops of all kinds. I’m planning on getting one to pull with my MINI Cooper. :)

I've seen American chairs like this on Antiques Road Show! The finish looks like its original from its dark color and brighter worn spots where the person would sit and touch the wood. It would also be much more valuable if it had the original woven seat.

I tried this same paint technique on a wood step-stool from Ikea, also with green and white paint! I only added the herringbone design to the treads, though, keeping the rest of the piece white for contrast. It came out great!
